Yes, RIP. He has been credited for playing this iconic bass-line on a Scott Walker song but when Scott was interviewed he couldn't recall who played bass on the session. Scott was a bass-player also. Dave Richmond played bass on that song - he's got the receipts. Still, Herbie was one of the greats -

Was just thinking about this bass. It’s still one of the coolest basses I’ve seen (I should build a tribute to it), and Herbie was of course such a fantastic bassist. I thought this thread could use a resurrection.
