here's something you don't see every day - modified 66 Jazz content

This has been here before. Stop it.
Not wanting to offend whomever decided to take a perfectly good 66 Jazz and have the
audacity to think that they could "improve" the original comfort contoured, elegant lines.
Leo spent quite a few years coming up with that design, making an instrument that was more
comfortable to play and easier to get around on. So, my take if you want to do a custom bass
then be original enough to do it yourself not trash someone else's life's work. Just my take of course.
People be weird, people be crazy.
My take, Fender already did it better, just my take though.

I- I don’t even know where to start. I like to think this made someone happy at some point in time. At least I hope so.
If we’ve ever been curious where the line is between a mod and, “should have sold it and bought what you were trying to turn this into,” I think we found it.
And he must be still tripping considering he wants $6,400 for it.
Good question, as there are so many newer basses deserving of sacrifice.
This was probably done long time ago, when these basses were just considered old basses not “vintage”.
I don’t believe any luthier or part-time luthier would agree to do this kind of radical mod on a “collectors” instrument.
Even if it were pristine I'd still pay nowhere near that price. The vintage market is wild.
Holy Carved Up Batman, that's something I don't WANT to see every day.....basicically they are selling a neck and hardware....that body is toast, unless you give it to a body man who brings it back to life with bondo or something....what a shame
I would have just used a Warmoth or some cheap body to do something like that rather than hack up a vintage Jazz.

You are probably right. Reading the thread apparently this listing has some history to it.
Sad this had to happen to a vintage axe, but I gotta say, the body design ain't bad. I think the general idea for the shape is actually kinda cool...
