I'm confused by the asking price. There isn't $6000+ worth of bass guitar there unless the neck and hardware are really that valuable?

here's something you don't see every day - modified 66 Jazz content

1) The mod was probably done decades ago before normal basses (which is all vintage Fender basses are) somehow became the stuff of legends. As such, doing that kind of mod back in '68 or '70 would he no different from modding the body of a run-of-the-mill 90s Ibanez today. Big fat meh.
2) The price is bloated even if you adore normal old basses (see #1).
He should part it out and get top dollar for the holy relics that make up the bass. Some dipstick would give $175 for the cap in the tone circuit cuz it's from a "vintage Fender meeyan!".

Some people just can’t take ‘no’ for an answer. This person is looking for the single ‘yes’ in the flock of ‘no’. And I don’t care. That instrument will never cost me any more than the two minutes I spent commenting on it.
A person who pays over 6000 dollars of this must be mental. And why doesnthe seller think it's worth that? Because it's '66? Sure, but doesn't look like it.
If someone does a mod like this, totally fine if they'll keep it forever. But trying to get that price out of it..... Mental.

Another thread for this one…, Gumby isn’t going to be parting with it’s current owner anytime soon for that redonkulous price.

It's the owner's bass. He did what he wanted to it. Doesn't affect me at all. At the end of the day they are all still just Jazz Basses or whatever. They aren't magic carpets that can change the world. Just because it was made 50 or 60 years ago does not mean it was a magic bass. It could have been the worst bass ever - even to this day - so the owner hacked it up.
