I use B&W in my Minolta, and loved them. I still use color occasionally, but IMO, B&W just looks and feels betterBad Brains said:

Yeah B&W has that certain something! I actually like to use slow B&W films. 100 ISO if I can get it. I can't put my finger on why the slow film works better, it's just the pics have a warmer feel to them.
On the other hand, the faster the colour film, the better for me. 400iso at a minimum, but I'll use 800 and 1000 iso quite often, especially when shooting sports events.

I used 100 and 400 for today.
Actually at one point I forgot to change the shutter speed of 1/15, so I know a few of my photos are going to be too blurry, I should of used a Tripod.
B&W definitly has a classy feel and look.

To me now this is just me talking. It doesn't seem like you have balls you claim to have. You sound more like that kid who pokes the mean dog with a pointy stick through a gate. Rather then the kid who goes into the yard with a tasty treat and trys to be friendly to the dog.

Wasn't it Camden, New Jersey that was voted the worst city in America? Next was Bridgeport and then Detroit (#1 large city).
A lot of the cities in CT are kind of crappy, New Haven and Hartford are pretty bad.

Flint is pretty bad too, I have actually never been there personally. I hear it's like mini-Detroit.
A little fact about Detroit....The whole "Devils Night" thing started here back in the 80's. I remember people used to rent hotel rooms in the highrise hotels in downtown every year on Devils night just so they could watch the fires burn thoughout the city.
Also the movie "The Crow" with Brandon Lee was based off of Detroit as a theme.

Dude, I'm *very* amateur at 35mm photography... actually, I'm giving up the film part of it, and hoping to this summer get a Nikon D70. So mine's for sale if anyone's interested (listed in the For Sale here)Bad Brains said:

I'm getting better at shooting film, at first I couldn't get anything right, then I only got pictures I didn't need right while the good ones were always bogus.
There is a lot of little processes to go though...you have to take the pictures correctly, developing them correctly (reel the film on correctly in pitch darkness so the film dons't stick and ruin), and then go through the printing process correctly. It can get frustrating sometimes.

Geeze you people are getting wayyy too personel here.
I did something most people in my situation wouldn't even consider. I could have just walked to the park or around the block to fill the requirements for this assignment. But I have always found the actual city of Detroit kind of interesting, espically how bad it really is. So I decided to risk my neck (literally) to go into the city and do this for my own interests.

I'm closer to nonsqtr on this. I worked on the ambulance in south Dallas/Oak Cliff for longer than I care to remember. I've gone on calls to neighborhoods where we are not allowed to respond without a police escort. Living in the ghetto because you have nowhere else to live is rough. But I think sometimes it was just as rough to respond to a reported shooting and an overdose at the same address on the same day.
Taking pictures and then leaving? I'd have traded with you.

Heard and understood. This ain't no pissin' contest. I lived in one of the worst ghettos in the world, for over a year. I know what it means, I "get it". I wouldn't wish that on anyone. It's impossible to relate the story in a short post, suffice it to say that the tracks are enough to keep my ego in check. That, and seeing someone murdered not three feet away, which I still have nightmares about. And then there's all the "little" stuff, like gang wars and muggings and ripoffs and all that. Unfortunately I'm not in much of a position to "do" anything much about it, except try to be of service in whatever limited capacity I can. I do what I'm able, when I'm able. It's typically only countered by the size of one's heart and you didn't do anything unusually heroic... Maybe if you ended up getting shot at or actually shot and killed would I say, "Wow, he had the balls to go out and die for his dream of being a photographer. He tried to paint a picture of inner city life and he became a martyr for it." But you're really just not reading too high on the balls-o-meter this morning.
