Hey - how long you been here?

Been here since 2006. Unusually, I started out on the double bass side and have been slowly gravitating to the electric side, as my current ensemble playing has been primarily with that instrument. Proud to keep a foot in both worlds.
I've only been a member on TB for a little over three years, but my jokes are six days older than dirt...

Started lurking here around 2007, became a member in 2009. Hanging around here definitely made a better bassplayer out of me.
I first got online in early 1999...was directed hereby some mega-Bass aggregate site called "Dave On Bass".
Fuqua, Jerry, Brad Johnson, Bruce Lindfield, Gruffpuppy, Rickbass, Joris, Marty Forrer, & others were already here.
My very first post was in a Jaco/Joni thread. Craig Garfunkel (great guy & bassist) responded (& didn't trash me). Since then, been hooked.
A cool poster named lump "crashed an early server" (in 1999) & afterwards was known as *lump*.
That's my story & I'm sticking to it.
I've been a member since January of 2011, which makes me sort of a "newbie".
I still can't believe that you have not kicked this drummer out yet...

Yep! That applies to me.The date shown under my avatar reflects my membership in the "new" version of TB. But I was a member long before that. I think I joined sometime in the mid to late 90's.
Do any of you happen to know when the original TB started?

My join date says 2010, but I'd been lurking for awhile before that.

I seem to remember that the first thing I did was get in an argument with the mod BassyBill (who had a stroke 2 or 3 years ago and hasn't been seen for a while).

Since shortly after I started playing, I guess. I started playing in late 2002, got a MIM P-bass for my fourteenth birthday in 2003... September 2005 would have been right around the time I bought my second bass, shortly after I turned sixteen. I just turned thirty this year. Jeez.
Iirc, Lump crashed the original server, became *lump* and everyone had to re register on the new server in late 1999.
I lurked a while before coming here but went offish in 2003...also took a hiatus for a few yrs shy of a decade and came back about a yr ago. Changes I saw...way more jaded old timers here (for metal) and way less people looking for face to face interaction. Used to hit up the annual international get together and there were tons of in person events to oogle each other’s gear. That seems to have dried up...at least in the NY area. Hot dog though for the advances in technology and effects!
