it's okay. The body is heavily influenced by another body style with a few twists. Nothing like a rabbit, but the title of the instrument is in reference to the Bass Horn/Bout.

The status is same as post #13. :bawl: :bawl: :bawl: No strings, no claw.

okay, short claw update.

I'm picking up all the pieces today and hopefully in the next couple of weeks it will get it's first set-up then all the custom hardware will be chrome-plated.

After a long 8 months, the string issue has finally been resolved so progress can continue. I'm crossing my fingers that nothing pops up during set-up.

The pickup covers are finished and instead of going with the neck-through stripes we went with matching the redwood burl.

The finish is all done and it looks amazing...

So if no new hiccups come up, you guys may actually get to see this thing in the next month or two.

Your patience is astounding, man. I have a feeling that it will pay off in the end, though.

Anyway, what's the news on the Joust?

The 8 months has just been for the custom strings... the bass has been in construction since November 2003. :bawl:

Joust had a problem with one of the pickups, it's fixed now but the pickup cover had to be destroyed in the process - Ken has another piece to use but it's fully spalted instead of 1/2 spalted - so he's not sure if he wants to make both pickup covers full spalt or one 1/2 and the other full. Anyways, the bridge is done and once the pickup cover(s) is/are made and then it gets the finish and everything gets put together - the KL and the Claw are neck in neck. The Conklin is lagging in 3rd (the fretboard is going to be slotted soon). All 3 of these basses are crazy and complicated.

The Redwood burl is sweet - I think I have enough left over for 2 more basses. :D

hey guys

the claw: new string problem... funny, the low strings are fine... hahaha. Hardware being chromed right now. Electronics going in.

conklin: big delays because of the strange melt top I designed. I think right now the fretboard is waiting to be slotted.

JP Basses is also getting started on the Naia 12. :D
