High End Acoustic Bass Thoughts/Recommendations

Yes of course, I should have acknowledged that point in my post. I'm 60 and have other physical issues which require I approach certain activities in a more cautious mindset then I did 5 years ago. I'm glad you've found a way to keep the music flowing.

Now, for the rest of you who can't get any volume out of an ABG, raise your string height and get ferocious.
I have no physical ailments that prevent me from playing hard, but I’m not going to sacrifice the techniques that have worked for me for 35 years, in an effort to make an AEB audible when I’m more than willing to plug into an amp.

Yep, all acoustic.
Yeah, so the Balor was audible even with 4 other acoustic guitars (2 12s!) going, and I guarantee, any of the Emeralds is likely going to be louder than the "Martin dreadnought" mentioned earlier. Yup, they're loud. And yup, I'm still glad they come ready to be plugged in, too. :D Best of both.

The Balor really seems like the top heap king of acoustic basses the more I look in to it. Still would like to hear a Dave Maize or Harry Fleishman bass too though. Also the Alien bass mentioned earlier. In any case, it seems like there is at least a good handful of high quality, audible acoustic bass guitars out there.

According to Talk Bass Orthodoxy, audible acoustic basses do not exist. Bunch of heretics in this thread!

Thanks for posting those videos. I forgot to look for them last night. Must remember to watch them after work.

I migjt buy one of those Emerald acoustic basses if it had my preamp.
They do custom requests (for a price). Not sure the Aphex system is available separately, but probably out there somewhere... (I just popped Aphex an email about it, didn't see it on their product pages, but they obviously still make it.)

Sorry to high-jack this.........

He is referring to this

And I have to agree with him. Simply has to be the best preamp for any ABG.
