You're right that nothing else sounds like the Aphex - but *I* don't think it sounds as clear and as real/organic as the LR Baggs preamps... You are wrong in stating I haven't checked one out, because I have - IMO, the LR Baggs preamps I showed are better, and the Dual Source setup I listed is FAR better than any of those...

Lol - not really... I heard your video playing the Aphex, and didn't think it sounded all that great , to be honest...
Agreed - Fishman were good when they first came out, given the alternatives - but LR Baggs has bested them, for sure...
Maybe you'll post a sample showing how much better the LR Baggs sounds.
I use the Stadium DI, but that's entirely different.
I'll see if I can find some video of me playing one at a gig - I know there are some out there...

Yeah, I love my top of the line Alien. They made some high end prototypes in Germany in the beginning, then subbed out the expensive high end ones to Viet Nam. Then they made a budget line of Alien's in the Far East. Mine is one of the high end models made in Viet Nam. It's a beautiful bass with a full rich tone.
Bill Laswell got his at the same time I got mine, our instruments are virtually identical, except his is fretless. He made an entire solo acoustic album, with just him and his Alien here:

OK, I put a clip up - which was just straight DI to the board, btw... By all means, put yours up - and let people decide for themselves... After all, things like sound quality are purely subjective...
If you're looking for a dual-source system try D-TAR Multi Source. Dials in very nicely, extremely unobtrusive, and runs 18 volts for excellent dynamics and lots of headroom.
I can see why, she's a great singer. But you guys are all awesome too. Really nice bass playing (and the tone was great too), and the drums and mandolin were very fine as well.
Thanks for mentioning this--I'm always looking for people (besides Jonas Hellborg, one of my favorites!) making use of acoustic bass guitar as a solo instrument...

As you may know Jonas and Bill are great friends and co-owned a recording studio together in Greenpoint, Brooklyn for a few years....
I also admire the Jonas Warwick model, although I have never had the chance to play one.
Thanks very much - as I remember, it was a hot day, and we had to hang around for over 2 hours past scheduled start time because the venue's soundman stiffed... We ended up getting a quick line check, then running with it - but it all worked out... That venue is awesome - another band I was playing in opened for Marty Stuart there earlier in the year, and one of my current bands is opening for Rodney Adkins in June there...
I'm hoping jd56hawk will post his video here - I can't seem to find it any more... As I said, tone is subjective, and who knows - maybe others will think it sounds better than what I posted...
I remember watching his clips, and thinking the sound wasn't half bad, but we can't really do a fair objective comparison without directly recorded clips, not cell phone videos...
True - but I will say that mine was a cell phone video, and I think his was, too...
