Hipster thing

Fashion and fads are fuelled by insecurity. F**K 'fitting in'........are we sheep? Do your own thing...... Does anyone remember individuality?
I'm a 56 year old guy, a bit large , and I wear black 't' shirts with hotrod run logo's that I have attended, blue jeans, and chucks, It's not fashion ...I just feel comfortable that way and always have. I have adopted some modern things like computers, cellphones, etc, but I wasn't brought up with them like todays youth.....I started my teens as an insecure, low self esteem kinda person but I soon found that I did not want to be a follower........... fads require you to think and behave, and even dress in a certain way, where is the real you in all of this posturing?
I will not knock trying to find yourself, and I think that this is what these trends are all about....teens try stuff to find direction in life ...hey I did it....you did it.....
Just recognise that that is what it is and find your niche.
Don't let the masses tell you what is cool for you.:scowl:

This is a positive post and I can say that I went from living under a bush and smoking butts from the gutter to marrying my soulmate and making a great living and owning my own house and having hotrods in the mancave, and I ain't nothing special......

It's hard for kids these days......i feel for them.....so many ways to go that didn't even exist in 1972......

Sorry.. a bit of a rant ..Hey!....I'm not a bad bassist either.....just wish I lived in a larger demographic....like the states..:D It's kinda lonely down here.:p

If you like those shows you'd like the simpsons. At least everything from about season 4 to season 10 (give or take a season or two) all the others are a little hit or miss for me but i still enjoy it

Mid '90's Simpson's episodes are some of the best written comedies ever, imo

I'd also throw in Arrested Development. One of the best shows ever.

As for hipsters, despite their pretentiousness, androgynous clothing choices, crappy music taste (IMO), and unwarranted superiority complex and self-importance, they do have good taste in coffee and, at least in the case of those over 21, beer. Once they grow out of their PBR phase they move onto craft beers and become very knowledgeable about them very quickly, at least that's been my experience with them.

Yeah, the only reason we hypsters even drink PBR is because it's cheap, and you know how we can't resist the whole "retro" thing. Craft beer, however, can be damn good stuff - if I lived in the US - depending on the state - I wouldn't even buy PBR, I'd just stick with craft because beer in general, which includes craft, is generally a lot cheaper over there, and depending on the state the craft beer scene can be amazing.

Letitfall I find it so weird that you've never seen the Simpsons! Do yourself a favor and catch an episode, preferably one from the 90s. I don't watch it anymore (somewhat burnt out on it these days; that's what 20yrs of the same show will do to you though) but there is some great comedy in that show

there have always been people who are "too cool to follow a trend, because they were into *that* (whatever the trend is) way before it was cool".

I may be too cool to follow a trend, but no I was never into that, not even before it was cool.

BTW, love the cheeseburger joke.

Anyways, hipster chicks are hot, but they wont go for me because Im not a sheep and I dont know who their favorite crappy bands are.

Hipsters drink PBR? Thats blasphemy. They should get there own beer. Reminds me of Rolling Rock in a way. Used to drink it because it was the cheapest beer you could get in a bottle case besides Ole Milwaukee. Then all of a sudden Rolling Rock became cool. Its tastes like crap but somehow it became the in beer , after being around for years

Yeah, right? I think hipster chicks are on the highest echelon of hotness, with their crazy hair colors and tattoos and tight clothes and piercings, but not with that "bite off your manhood" vibe that metal chicks portray, or with the beerguts that biker chicks usually carry around. I dont know how hipster girls can nail that slammin' cute look. Its great right up until they raid their grandma's estate sale and think any of the old clothes and accessories are a good idea.

But they never like me, I dont have enough tattoos and piercings. I've been told that specifically many many times. Not sure why hipster girls are so afraid to break their conformity bubble...

Not quite. That URL is misleading, most of them just look like they're in Abercrombie commercials.

Heres some examples of Northeast hipster looks, I'm used to seeing chest tats, old school glasses, cigarettes, and flannels. Posted a bunch in case any mirrors sh*t the bed:
