History Channel - Vikings

I watched E7 "The Ice Maiden" last night - what a bummer sad episode - I was really feeling it. This one was as sad as the one where Ragnar died as far as I'm concerned, but it looks like next week they find out about Hvitserk.
They gave Lagertha a funeral ceremony of the highest honors, and I liked the scene where she sank into the water & met side by side with Ragnar in the sand.
I'm just bummed it was Lagertha - I really liked her.

I can't bring myself to watch the next episode. I read the reviews, and that may be enough for me.
I know it's TV and it's not real, but I did spend the last six years getting to know Lagertha, and now she's gone. What really bothers me is the utterly stupid way she was killed. Yes by a son of Ragnar as prophesied, but come on already Hirst. Death with honor, not at the hands of some junky hallucinating.
I felt the same loss when Ragnar was killed, but at least he died on his terms.

You & me both! I've gotten to like her maybe a little too much for a TV character, and I just loved seeing her riding into battle with her sword / shield & hair braided so nicely. If she had to die - why couldn't it have been in the 2nd half of S6 in some battle?
I wonder what made Hirst think this storyline was a good idea - something the Vikings audience would appreciate?
I decided to give episode eight a try.
I still haven't watched episode seven.
Bjorn is a terrible king.
The last guy he kicked out of Kattegat ended up killing his son.
Then off we go back to Iceland which is still lame.
I was surprised Hirst is still getting miles out of the fake Freydis lookalike.

Sigh, what a lame episode number nine was. Hvitserk reunites with Ivar, yeah never saw that coming Hirst.
Hvitserk still believes he is destined to kill Ivar, so are we supposed to be surprised in a later episode when he eventually does that, and let me guess.... in a way that lets lame-o Bjron win a battle?
What I really don't get is the speed at which events are happening. Oleg orders some raiding parties and the next scene shows his warriors cutting up people in Norway and then near Kattegat. These raiding parties are moving way faster than possible for that time in human history. Kiev and Norway/Kattegat are not close together via the modes of transportation available at this time in human history.
Then we have the fact that it's always snowing in Kiev, while it looks like a mild fall in Kattegat which is further north than Kiev.
How did Ivar never learn that Oleg was a Christian? He seemed so surprised when Oleg declared an end to pagan gods as a benefit from his upcoming victory over the Vikings
Hirst has some grand plan to wrap this show up, and now it feels really sloppy and hastily written. Then if the show hold the pattern it had set recently when splitting up the season, it'll be 6-7 months to wait to catch the end of the series. That there is super lame. Release the while season at once and let fans what it when they want to, even if that means binging.
Six years of my life were spent with Vikings, and for the longest time I was a huge fan. Now, I'm not sure I'll watch the remaining episodes. I'm disappointed.

I ended up watching the entire series and started to enjoy it. I was waiting for news of the next season, then this story caught my eye just now:

We can watch it all at once instead of being forced by the History Channel to watch it over 3-4 months.

In two days the final 10 episodes will be released on Amazon. I'm so glad for this and not having to watch them one episode per week for the next three months on History channel.
I haven't missed an episode. It's going to be tough watching it end.

I finished watching the final season tonight. I like the way the series wrapped up. No loose ends.
It was a fun six years following that series getting to know the characters and history. As I expected, it was hard watching that final episode tonight knowing that there's no more stories of the sons of Ragnar.
I'm sad it's over.
Well done Hirst. Even though there were plenty of times I disagreed with you, overall some of the best time I spent watching TV was this series.

wasted 8 hours of my day to watch that hot garbage yesterday
i was on the correct path when I was disgusted with the stupid way they killed off Winnick's character & they went extra-stupid with Ivar's demise.
Floki magically appears seconds before the finalé episode, that was just hokum!
I'm usually not too critical of 'entertainment', but I invested too much time in caring about Ivar's character for it to end that way.
Thinking back, I should have split as soon as I discovered that some of the characters couldn't have even met, because they were in different time periods!
On to the next however, there's a show on History called Barbarians, which is a documentary style with some action scenes mixed in. Yeah, it's an old show, but I just discovered it on Hulu.
Been watching that while fittingly playing Civilization VI and killing Barbarians.
It's a shame that the HISTORY channel willfully distorted the actual history of the Vikings just to sensationalize it.
