History Channel - Vikings

Hahaha, Floki-ville.
I watched a lengthy preview for next week. I'm always disappointed when I do that as it takes away from the episode. I need to stop.
We saw a new character this week, Adam Copeland as Kjetill Flatnose. Another one Hirst is excited about, and he is part of Floki's crew. I think this Floki/Iceland storyline is going to stick around a while.
I don't like the multiple storylines in different parts of the world. I feel like we then spend too much time jumping around from storyline to storyline, and then I have to reset myself to deal with the change each time.

The fight scene in York though, that was great.
I've thought the fight scenes in this series have always been great, and get better.
That berserker with the big axe was awesome. Ending his life by taking out Judith's cousin was a fitting end.
I wonder if we're at the end of the road with Aethelwulf and the Saxons. Back to back brutal massacres make it seem like that is played out now.
Perhaps Hirst revisits England later this season or next.
Bjorn? Totally lost me on that storyline. I thought going into season five Bjorn would be what I most followed, but this stuff in the desert is crap.
Are we to think Halfdan is gay? He's never been after a woman in previous seasons, so maybe he is.

I tried episode one yesterday.
The squishing sounds, blood splattering, sword through the back of someones neck and out their mouth so blood splatters all over someone elses face scenes are over the top to me. Like they try too hard to gross people out.
The fight scenes on Vikings are getting more graphic, but they still feel part of the flow of the show.
On Knightfall it felt to me like it was more of....alright, we're going to show a ton of blood and guts for a few minutes as people fight, then we'll go back to the show.
Like when you go into slow motion to watch an arrow flying, yeah overdone in my opinion.
I'm sure I'll give another episode a shot, but not at this time.

What the heck Hirst? Just drop and run from the Bjorn/Halfdan in the desert storyline? That was really weird how that abruptly ended.

Ivar will be betrayed & Margrethe will betray Lagertha again when it means the most.
I was also just thinking that we haven't seen Rollo in a while.

Bjorn in the Mediterranean had the potential to be a great storyline, but they blew it completely. Lagertha still has potential, but they've got to get her out of that freaking house. That's all she does is hang out in her house. The character has already been established as a fan of living in England, and the actress herself is great in the role so get her out of this boring situation she's in. Imo.

I finally got caught up as well - 4 episodes back to back in one night.
It almost looked like Eden with Floki's people having fun in the hot springs, and the 1st child now on the way ... wait till Kattegat hears of these hot springs ... I mean a nice hot bath!
I love the bloody battle scenes, but that was really hard watching Astrid being gang raped - that was bad. I haven't been a huge fan of Astrid, but I've gained more respect for her after enduring that, and just wanting to settle down. King Harald is so happy that he's going to be a father, but wait until he gets the news. I wondering how it will affect him, and at which point does he find out. Maybe right before the attack or during, or when the big doublecross goes down between him and Ivar(?).
It was so funny seeing the look on Bjorn's face after finding out that they just had Commander Euphemius for dinner, and then joking about it later to Alfred and the gang in Kattegat.
Ubbe kissing Torvi, and Bjorn getting it on with the Princess ... so many triangles in this series, but I guess that's what it's like being Viking.
It's so cool that they added Adam Copeland AKA "Edge", "The Rated R Superstar" now retired from the WWE since being told by his Physicians that if he took one more fall - he could become fully paralyzed. After that he got a role on SyFy's series "Haven". His former tag-team partner Jason Reso "Christian" also appeared in the series for one season.

I am curious as to how Heahmund makes his exit back to England. I think he'll kill a son of Ragnar or two before he sails home.

Me too, but she seems less and less part of the show. She's showing weakness/mercy she never did the last four seasons.
Hirst has decided to make Floki important again, the show is zeroing in on the sons of Ragnar, which I suppose it should or it'd be about over by now.
I'd love it if she went back to a major role on the show, perhaps kick some major butt in this civil war, but even the Seer said it's going to be bad circumstances when she sees Bjorn.

He also said "the consequences of Ragnar's death have not yet played out - prepare yourself for what is to come", then when Lagertha asked for more info - he went on to say "too much knowledge is an agony". Bjorn is back now so maybe this has to do with the upcoming battle?

Yeah? I'm indifferent on him. He seems weak to me, and that hag Margrethe prodding him all the time to overtake Lagertha.
Maybe Astrid and Lagertha will take down Margrethe in her failed betrayal attempt. An arrow to the chest, al la Torvi.

He seems to me to be the most levelheaded of the 3 remaining brothers, but I thought Hvitserk is more or less the weaker one.

It still seems odd how well Ivar is getting around for as bad of a cripple he was portrayed throughout the previous seasons.
I guess they just couldn't have him floundering around on the floor anymore before some of the upcoming epic battles. It just seemed off to me, as off as wearing 60 lbs of iron strapped to his legs, and not sinking straight to the bottom of the sea ... a feat Mark Spitz couldn't pull off.
I guess there are questions we aren't suppose to ask.

I feel the same about that deal with Ivar and his legs.
It's like Hirst decided he was done with the 'Ivar can't walk' angle and came up with the fix out of the blue one day. Which is pretty much how it happened on the show.
I don't know what comes of Floki. When he got called out for wanting to be king, he didn't argue. Floki hasn't ever had those aspirations, so I'm not so sure that's where he is going with this.
He's always stayed 100% with his faith in the gods, so I really think he believes everything he is saying about this new land.
