Oh, he would care if I liked him. The arrow I aimed in his direction wouldn't miss like all those from Bjorn's posse did.
Which, by the way, that was stupid. A huge wave of arrows coming right at Ivar and not a one hits him? Pffttt.

Speaking of.....round one we saw the Sami completely dominate in the forest. Round two, they all get wiped out in a matter of seconds. Stupid again.
I dunno, feels like the writing is getting lazy. Hirst needs some help. He appears to be tapped out.

I was a bit let down as well, and it seemed like a substandard battle compared to others we've seen - maybe it was all the breaks into their visions/flashbacks that took away from the usual intensity. I didn't get the relevance of the quick scene changes back & forth with Floki either as Mike said; they should have made Iceland into one segment.

Bummer with Halfdan, and I was just getting to like him, and Bjorn lost his new love.

I thought it was deeply emotional for Astrid that she was begging Lagertha to kill here because she didn't want the child she was carrying, so now Harald will never know about the gang rape plus I have a feeling he's going to find out that Lagertha killed her. Now Harald along with Ivar will be out for blood (I haven't seen the trailer yet).

Margrethe sure turned out to be a b****, she was willing to kill the kids in order to get closer to the throne, but I wonder what the Seer meant when he told her Ubbe would be King, but not in Kattegat. The Seer sure wasn't looking too well, and seemed rather bothered by Margrethe's questioning.

The whole episode seemed to be a lead in for the 2nd half season ... I thought more questions would be answered.

Hirst is getting farther and farther away from recorded/known history each episode and season.
Perhaps Ubbe heads back to England with Heahmund, who has a change of heart about killing all pagans, and allows Ubbe and his posse to settle in and farm in exchange for protection from invaders.
Does Ubbe get a spot under Rollo maybe? Does Ubbe sail off to rule Floki-ville?
Maybe he heads to the Mediterranean?
Either way, he needs to ditch Margrethe. I think she's going to kill someone, or a few someones, before she's gone.

I'm not sure that Heahmund is just playing Lagertha - he might be, but I think he finds her alluring, and might not want to admit it to himself.

Floki is really upset about the "eye for an eye" play by Eyvind. Having two people die was not at all his intent for the new land, and now he want's to sacrifice himself as a form of recompense.

I just saw the trailer - not much to go on ...

I watched the episode again. Something isn't right.
I'm still hung up on the synopsis which reads "a legendary warrior makes his way home".
We didn't see anything like this in the show. I think it's Heahmund who gets the heck out of Kattegat before Ivar arrives, but whoever wrote the synopsis didn't confirm with Hirst that was in this episode.
Then when you watch the trailer for episode 11, you see Heahmund from behind on a horse with his sword raised marching towards Vikings who are carrying shields like those of Ivar/Harald's army as a bunch of English troops are following him.
It looks like we're going to have a time lapse between episodes 10 and 11.
Heahmund goes back to England, rounds up an army, and sails back to Kattegat to come after Ivar. Or maybe Ivar chased Heahmund to England.
Perhaps Rollo enlisted Heahmund to now fight for him.

I think if Hirst would have known the series was going to run for five or more seasons - he may have been able to lay out the 200 year timeline a little differently in relation to when the characters made their entrance by season.

Still – he’s done a great job of incorporating the more famous known Vikings into a wonderful series we Viking fans love ... part fact, and part storytelling.

I’ll keep watching it until the series ends.

I was watching Knightfall last night and noticed the shields the French soldiers were carrying on that show more closely resemble the shields on the backs of the men Heahmund is leading against the Vikings.
I wonder if Heahmund changes to a different team once again and will fight for/under Rollo and Frankia.

Same happened with Vikings, which is when they lost me. I always felt like Ragnar’s timeline and the story itself could have been extended, and with the way they’re playing with timelines now it would have only made sense IMO to have had him met his fate early in this series...as opposed to having the meat vessel that is his son take the reigns. The margin of acting caliber took a huge dip with the departure of Travis Fimmel. It became The Godfather without Pacino. All IMO, etc.

Of course they had no way to predict what a hit Vikings would be, but that’s where it would be to the benefit of the production to get their history in order. They could have had a prolonged multiverse kinda thing (I don’t know what geeks call it...continuity?), a la Star Wars, etc. Truth is stranger than fiction, it’s just fiction doesn’t move as fast.

Watching the two previews now, Ivar is still just not a compelling character/king/leader to me. I don't like him all that much.
For as power hungry and ambitious as he is portrayed to be, all he mentions in the preview is being king of Kattegat. Really?

Hey Thanks Mike!! I actually gave up watching this season because the History Channel has now decided we must pay to watch!!! LAME! If these greedy buggers keep squeezing us all for every single thing, they are the ones who will lose. But..I will try to watch what you posted here. I am so curious what happens this season and I only watched 3 episodes before History Channel shut me off and wanted me to pay.

I didn't realize History stopped showing episodes for free on their website. That's lame, but I guess someone has to pay the bill for this giant production Hirsch has created, and it won't be History channel.
I'll dig around and see if I can find any other streaming options online that are no charge.

Well Hulu finally has all of season five and soon wifey and I will be watching the ten episodes. Feels like we have been waiting forever for this to finally be available but from my brief skimming (don't want too many spoilers) I get a feeling we might be underwhelmed, but who knows maybe not.
