I think he's absolutely genuine in his beliefs which may be even clearer since the loss of Helga, and I'm sure they'll find a way to make it work with Floki's knowhow.

I think he's absolutely genuine in his beliefs which may be even clearer since the loss of Helga, and I'm sure they'll find a way to make it work with Floki's knowhow.
Oh Lagertha.....you're going to get yourself killed. What the heck is the deal saving Heahmund? Someone finally struck him down, Ubbe came to do the right thing and put an end to the guy, and you insist he be saved for some reason you don't know? That's going to come back to haunt her one way or another.
Heahmund is there to kill Vikings, and by the looks of the battle he was just killing whoever came by him. He even appeared to eye up Lagertha before someone else took him out.
Those battle scenes are amazingly well done. I get so nervous watching them, my stomach was in knots. Just think, there is more to come. This battle for Kattegat is not over.
I totally thought of you @Solarmist as the episode started out with Ivar crawling around the dock, then later he was walking again. I guess Hirst can't figure out which Ivar he wants us to see.
I'll tell you what though, this one has me stumped. Has Ivar really been outsmarted or is this part of his plan? He looked really confused a few times there.
Those people in the woods with the blow darts? That was freakin awesome.
Hvitserk looks lost out there.
Ubbe.....I never really liked him, but he is starting to grow on me. If this is the end for Lagertha, I'd still rather see Bjorn as king, but Ubbe wouldn't be so bad. He's level headed and more like Ragnar than the others.
Halfdan is rising up as one of my favorite characters. I like him more every week as my dislike for Harald increases. He's a punk.
Floki....eh, lost my interest altogether. I got up and went to the bathroom when they switched over to him and his followers.

I was thinking the same thing - how did Heahmund know the good Vikings from the bad in the heat of the battle - he was just taking out as many as he could. I think Lagertha may have taken Heahmund out of curiosity of what may be learned from him as far as metallurgy goes (amongst other things) after taking a fancy to his sword -or- maybe she's just horny again. Too early to know at this point.
I'm confused on Ivar as well, even a pregnant Astrid wanted to go back to fight so why didn't Ivar want to join in - he's the most blood thirsty of all. I'm thinking maybe some of Lagertha & Ubbe's pleading with him not to fight for the sake of being Ragnar's sons during the negotiations meant more to Ivar than he let on, and when Lagertha said:
"This is not right that the sons of Ragnar should try and slaughter each other for land we already own"
^ Well that was powerful.

Yes - Halfdan has shown to be a honorable man with an unswerving loyalty to Bjorn after saving him.
It's going to be tough for Floki, and his people, but they will survive ... I can just feel it.

I thought that comment from Lagertha about land they already own was powerful too.
I thought maybe Ivar stayed back 'protecting the boats' to allow Bjorn and Lagertha to defeat Harald and his forces, then he'd sweep in and attack the Kattegat army once it was weakened. However, when I saw the preview for next week, it kind of blew that theory out of the water.
Harald stands in the way of Ivar getting what he wants, so at some point this alliance between those two is going to be betrayed. I feel like Ivar is just using Harald to weaken Kattegat, and Harald is probably thinking the same thing about using Ivar to weaken Kattegat so he can take it.
You know that uneasy feeling you get when someone goes on and on trying to convince you of something when you yourself aren't sure? While I like Halfdan, Hirst has gone to great lengths showing him trying to prove he is loyal to Bjorn. I feel like he may betray Bjorn at some point and return to his brother.
Astrid. I think she'll return to Lagertha at some point, and I also think she's going to get killed. Maybe by Heahmund.
I think Lagertha and Heahmund will get it on at some point. But I still think Heahmund is going to kill someone important to Lagertha, before he goes back to England to reunite with Alfred to strengthen the Saxon army to prepare for the return of the Vikings.
When Heahmund was quoting those scriptures right before the battle started, I think that is when he decided not to care who he was fighting for/with as his God had put him in a position to eliminate as may pagans as he possibly could.

I haven't seen episode 10 yet tonight, but I don't believe for one second Heahmund from last week pledging his fealty to Lagertha.
He's playing Lagertha for the weak fool he thinks she is. He seduced her, he knows she fell for him, so I think he's going to kill her.
Edit....I just read an article that Floki, well not as the character Floki, is starring in season two of Westworld on HBO. I wonder if he is going to bite the dust this season on his new island. Or maybe he returns to Kattegat and gets it from whoever is king now.

That Bishop is a serious fella there is no doubt about it. I think at the end of the day Rollo is going to take over. At this point the Vikings are too broken and to shattered. With Alfred now on the throne and we know what happens there. This may be the beginning of the end of some of their dominance not sure what's going to happen with Ivar but remember he is the father of Dublin Ireland so I have a feeling that he may have more in store for him.
That was lame, really lame.
Bouncing around to all those visions, then the abrupt cuts to the Floki storyline made this episode hard for me to get absorbed in.
I even thought the battle scenes were lame.

Yeah, this deal with Ivar walking has been one @Solarmist and I have joked about. I think it's poor writing from Hirst. One scene he crawls, then he has a cane, then he's in a special chariot, then...then.....surprise! He can now walk without any aids. Next episode he'll be back to crawling or maybe running.

That was tense there for a minute.
I don't get that whole storyline though. It feels out of place to me. All that time wasted there could have been used showing the return to Kattegat, or wrapping up the battle, or something else.
The next episode shows Ivar as king, I wonder why Rollo decided to show up. Maybe he kills Ubbe.

Nothing was solved, again. Hirst is dragging this on and on. The two people who died were secondary characters, and Guthrum wasn't even that.
Is Ivar really going to sacrifice Lagertha? If so, what a lame way to end her character. It should have happened on the battlefield.
I remember saying I'd stick around in season five to see what comes of Lagertha and now Bjorn.
Ivar I haven't ever liked. If he's now the 'star' of the show, I'm out.
Hirst teased some major deal with Rollo coming back, and that episode 11 trailer showed some major stuff happening.
Does he show up and take out Ivar and save Lagertha? He had a crush on her in earlier seasons. Does he show up and snuff out Ragnar's sons for a complete victory over his brother? He did tell Hvitserk to spare Bjorn, so who knows. Maybe Hvitserk made that part up.
