History Channel - Vikings

3 episodes in one night - I'll save E3 till next week before E4.
What did they do to Lagertha - she looks 15 years older, but so happy to be back home, but short lived as scenes from next week show her digging up her sword so her vacation looks to be short (I liked that short retrospective of her & Ragnar).
When Flatnose was talking to Ubbe about recruiting new settlers - Ubbe mentioned wanting to see a new land west of Iceland (which is might be present day Newfoundland where they were traced back to in an other Viking short mini series that aired several months back - it was mainly used for repairing boats), but Flatnose is telling Ubbe that it's Iceland.
The Russian Profit sure cozied up to Ivar after finding out he was indeed Ivar the boneless, said he was a direct descendant of Odin - even took him on a hot air balloon ride. Did they have hot air balloons back then - no, but Ivar thought it was great. Next week looks to be pretty good.

Gunnhild? I think she's a traitor and is scheming something.
Lagertha making a vow to the gods never to fight again when everyone knows she will? Lame.
Now Ubbe is going to set sail for Iceland? That storyline was lame all last season.
Ivar is rising to power in Russia, and he goes on a balloon ride? That had to be the stupidest thing I've seen in six years of this show.
Just have a big battle next week and kill everyone and be done with it.
The Ragnar flashbacks were great though. Reminded me well how great the show used to be.
Despite all that whining and complaining, I'll watch every episode till the end.

Third season coming early 2020, apparently.
I was amazed that it was filmed both in Norwegian, and in English by the same cast.
I'm all caught up now. I watched episodes 2-4 last night.
Bjorn is starting out as quite the crummy king.
I thought this season was going to wind down and wrap up story lines.

Oleg can't possibly be too evil for Ivar, I suspect Ivar is just not willing to be complacent as the puppet-king Oleg plans around.
When he betrays Oleg, that will be something to see, but fully expected.
Olaf is going to betray Harald & Bjorn, as well, but not sure how far he will play the long-con.
I was following the real history of these characters, who were real people, but the story is so far off-track at this point.
Hirst has already admitted that some of the characters weren't even alive at the same time, so could never have possibly met.

Yeah, I gave up years ago trying to follow known Viking history and this show. Once I realized Hirst is making this his spin on history, I enjoyed it more.
However, I wonder how this will all end. The worlds now are bigger than they ever were in previous seasons.

I haven't watched this since that big battle between Lagertha and the Danish brothers where Astrid died. It had already jumped the shark at that point. Is it even worth catching up?

I watched episode five tonight. I'm just not digging it.
The Hvitserk storyline is weird. We did the strung out on drugs story once with Ragnar already, now here we are again. Week after week with the same thing. Now there's some kind of green monster? What the heck?
Ubbe is mostly wasting time till he wanders off to Iceland to find Floki.
I've been loyal to this show for six years.i haven't missed a single episode or bonus feature. Now I feel like Hirst is trying to ruin it so we'll all be glad it's gone.
What's with reusing characters from previous seasons? Freydis part two? Lame.
But yes, I'm going to watch every single episode until the last one anyway and suffer.
The show was so great for three years, then downhill it went.

That is the absolute dumbest thing I have seen in six years of Vikings.
I get the seer predicted she would die by a son of Ragnar, by that was ridiculous.
Lagertha deserved a dignified death, not at the hands of some strung out junkie who thought she was a snake.

So that's what's been ailing Hvitserk - I guess like father like son. When he killed Lagertha I was thinking "you've got to be kidding - it might have been better if she died in the one-on-one battle she had a few scenes before ... or not at all. I thought she'd make it to the end.
I still think the dumbest scene was the hot air balloon ride with a balloon made of heavy animal skins.
Harald is now king of Norway so Hirst got that right anyway.

Well, that was a letdown above all others. The end of Lagertha is at the hands of the town psycho? Pretty lame.
May be time to gain back an hour of each week by missing this show.
