Hmm. A Question About the Drummer!

Circumvented the question in the last band by using a BeatBuddy programmable foot triggered pedal. Didn't miss a beat, quiet when it had to be and it didn't drink my beer. BTW, I was a drummer from '63 to '79.
I'm visiting a Pearl Export kit tomorrow at some point. The set and seller were recommended by a drummer friend I used to gig with. From our conversation, he has enough hardware to get me up and running.

I am looking to to some playing myself, but I will not lie that it is an additional lure to jam-pals not looking to break down their kits. There is something to be said for pragmatism.
I bought an electronic set earlier this year and I absolutely love it, and find it relaxing to play for an hour or so a day. That being said, I have got mad a few times and stormed out of my music room in a semi drunken rage, vowing that "I'm done with this BS, man, DONE"

I also have a Beat Buddy. You can emulate a real drummer by adjusting the sobriety settings...

In the end, anything that can inspire my bass playing is entirely acceptable and usually the reason behind me picking up new instruments.
For personal recording purposes, I use EZ Drummer for EZ hiring and firing
Well, I didn't "get fired", but I did lose my right leg so ... I would say: "Drummin' is hard"
That'll do just fine. The Squier P of the drum world along with the Yamaha Stage Custom. It won't win any beauty contests, and the tom arms look like plumbing, but they are perfectly serviceable drums.
Cymbals can't be tuned and are where the money should be spent anyhow, and where the true addiction begins.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I'm curious what drummer's forum you joined? My son is taking up drums and I'd like to steer him to a good place. While I have drummer friends I could ask, I trust the recommendation of a fellow TBer a little more.

I do Drummerworld and DFO.
I don't consider it a hijack. I looked about, not in a long-term sense, but found that Drummerworld seems to be pretty supportive. I joined, started a thread confessing "Noob-hood" and asked for advice. The replies are still rolling in and all of them have been helpful and informational. I cannot say that one forum is better than another or even what the other options are without delving into my search history during this adventure, but it seems that it would be a good enough place to start. My experience with the website is limited at best.
If your son joins and follows his drum-dreams, let me know his log in handle so I can ask him for resume advice when I am fired.

I would be impressed. It can be challenging to fire the unemployed.
