Hofner Icon Bass Colors

I use 4 basses I play oldies blues and am a songwriter singer in a 3rd band,I own A LTD EC254 (it looks like a LesPaul) a jazz and 2 Hofner iCONS.Iown the red and green.The red is actually Black Cherry.with a bad back the light weights usually win out.but hey love em or hate them they are supposedly rarebirds as I think 5 of them they made only 150 and 3 of them they only made 40 each and they will appreciate in value so checkmate.Oh my green one is 45 of 150 and the red or BC is 106 of 150 now I want the blue one
I agree. I also have both the Black and the Sunburst Contemporary Models. I keep LaBella Roundwounds on the Black and Labellea Flats on the Sunburst. I do think that the Contemporary model sounds better than the Icon series. Just my opinion.
I, myself, have a green Icon (16 of 150), green Ignition (much darker green than the Icon), a vintage 70's 500/1, and just purchased a pink Icon. I play in a regularly gigging bar band, and always bring 2 basses with me, but my "go-to" bass is my green Icon, despite the fact that I have others to choose from besides the Hofners.
It fits my hands, my playing style, and our music, and I always get loads of compliments on it. Of course, I love my vintage Hofner, but don't want the risk of taking it out to a gig. The only problems I've ever had with it are strap buttons loosening and a lost nut and bolt from the pickguard/mount. The thing is as bulletproof as I could ask for, and the light weight is fantastic. And I think it is absolutely beautiful to boot, but I don't mind if others don't feel that way... to each his own, right?

During my search for my "beatle bass" I played Hofners, Icons, Violas, and a Rogue but IMO the absolute best sounding of the type was a Brice HVB-600 (MIK). I've used it for several years and it's never let me down.

That takes me back....That bass served me well but I've recently moved on to a very nice sounding Hofner Ignition Club.
