I like the Contemporary series better in terms of sound and playability.
During my search for my "beatle bass" I played Hofners, Icons, Violas, and a Rogue but IMO the absolute best sounding of the type was a Brice HVB-600 (MIK). I've used it for several years and it's never let me down.
