Hey guys, here's my Contemporary, along with a new set of Pyramid Gold flatwounds. I have a lot of basses, but I can't seem to put this one down!

Hey Hofner experts, I have posted a question in the pickups section of TB and I'm thinking that it will require some of the few around here who are really knowledgeable about the Hofner wiring.

Jazz Bass 74 welcome to the group! I love my Hofner as well. I have put the Pyramid Golds on several of my basses, including my Gibson SG. I really appreciate the way they feel, play and sound. You are member 67.
Just bought an Icon, should be arriving in a week or so. Obviously not the "real" beatle bass but just had the urge so I'd love to join the group. BTW, I'm old enough to have seen the Beatles live at Dodger Stadium in 1966. Still have the ticket, cost $6.00.Just bought an Icon, should be arriving in a week or so. Avalon you can also check this site for information on Hofner wiring. I have found it to be very useful in addition to TB.

So i do have a question about the Hofner controls. I understand what they do but what are the typical settings for early Beatle tunes. I definitely don't see using the treble p/u only. Like the bass only on but wondered if McCartney played one or both on, rhythm or solo?
Icon arrived yesterday from NCM, set up by Gary et all, slapped on a set of LaBella's and ready to play. Couldn't get a good picture of the back but it has a nice "flame"back. Must say it's not bad at all for the price but makes me GAS for the real thing....Number Please

Just purchased a 63 Reissue! Wow! What a fun and great sounding bass. Any tips on getting the action lower ? The only thing I can think off is shaving the base of the bridge down. Has anyone done this? Neck relief is okay although not dead straight ( can't seem to get it to adjust to straight no matter how much I tighten the truss rod )
I'll post some pictures when I get a chance..
