I did not get a good chance to try it out. Just picked it up to get a feel for a second and had to return to work. It was differently an interesting feel to it. I will plug it in next time xD

Hmmm...I hope I'm not making a fool out of myself here, but based on the pickgaurd color and the location of the words on the control panel, the one on the right is the CT I think. It is cool that you have one for Left handed and one for Right

I own the CT only, the 64 is an eBay picture.
Control panel was not turned upside-down by the factory but i rotate it (just like McCartney did
): this is to have the neck p.u. volume on his natural position (control panels are anyway righties).
In this picture you can recognize the CT from the tuners knobs (slightly larger), the truss rod cover (idem) and, as you wrote, from the pearloid parts which are more whitish than the 64 celluloid ones.

Same thing for me and the 500/1: i am still waiting for a vintage one, but my modified CT (see above) is very close to a V64.
Used 500/1s are expensive! Solidbodys are a lot easier to come by, at least in Europe.
Your CT is nice.
There's a reissue of the 185, but it's not very true to the original, IMO.
after trying and loving an icon b at guitar center, i was torn between the contemporary and the icon violin bass - thanks to all of you, i'll be ordering the icon. can't wait!
I was writing about buying a Höfner Contemporary Violin Bass in July in this thread, but i had to abandon it back then.
Today i got a Höfner B-Bass Hi-Series instead, that cheaper one. But it looks and feels very good. I can`t find any faults in it`s finish, and tone is very articulate and clear, not at all muddy. Strange, when i am playing it, i begin to palm mute without thinking to do so. Is it meant to play with palm muting, mostly? It makes the sound very clean.
Now i must try flatwounds in it, let`s see how much better it`s tone will get!

just picked up an icon violin bass yesterday - the first one i've seen in a store with no issues, and so far, i'm really enjoying it. so, can i get a number?
Ed, I would go along with that offer providing I get to have a younger model as well. LOL

Heres my 68 club... Had it for years and is my main bass. Ive used it in about every musical "genre" out there and it never disappoints... I traded a buddy an old wurly I had laying around for it! It needed a pickup rewound and a neck reset, so I didn't get to hear or really feel what it sounded like before the trade...but I could tell it was a special bass... and is it ever!
