I had one of these for two days last week. It was very nice. Lovely sound. Comfortable neck. Even sounded nice un-plugged. The reason I returned it is that I couldn't see around it to the fretboard when playing standing up cause the thing is so deep. Maybe that's why Stuart Sutcliffe never got any better, although he didn't have my added girth (midriff). As I traded it in for a new CT Club, may I join?

Hi Bob, welcome to the group! You are member 84. Post some pics of your CT Club. We always like to see our members Hofners.

Thankyou :) I will have to dig them out and have a look at them. It's definitely a president, if you look through the F hole there's a ticket thing in there with President Bass No. 350 in there, in the right layout of course.

Also you might notice on the Violin bass that the plate stating where the switch is on the off position is the wrong way round, if you put the switch to where it says off or on it does the opposite. What strings do you use on the older models? We found short scale to small and medium scale too big.

Hey Guys - A recovering drummer of 25+yrs, I now consider myself a FT bass player. And while I've got 5 other rigs, this is my first new one, a black Hofner 500/1 CT. I've always wanted a Hofner, and I'm really loving it. Great looking; sustain as good as my J w\a Badass II; super light (lug an EBMM 5'er all night) and huge tone; all in a compact super cool package. And the short scale was surprisingly easy to adapt to. So, after being a fan, I'm now an owner. Can I get in the club??

Do you know how much does you CT weighs?

fiiine i'll join.. hofner 58 RI only 58 made. i have never played a 60s original that feels this good and it sounds just as good in a blind tone test to me. i actually prefer the 58 due to the cavern spacing, it's darker and woodier but does not have the low end of the blade pickups. i use this bass on the right gig any chance i get.

(Am I in? :hiding: )

I had this bass in the version marketed under the Gagliano brand back in 1966. Said "Gagliano" on the headstock but the PUPS and bridge said "Hofner." My first "real" bass after a Sears Kay model. Played this for a year till I got a '59 P bass.

Wow, Keith! Very nice '58. Glad to hear that it plays so well for you. Thanks for the pic and you are member 86. If you have some sound bites, I would love to hear this bass.

I picked up an ICON at GC for $99.00 because it had a "warped neck". After a minor nut filing job, I have myself a wonderfully light, great playing tone machine that fits my purposes exactly! The only way I could beat this deal is if GC had given it away! love it, can I get a number? Pictures to follow.
