Holloween costume ideas?

I did this one year... what was funny is the reaction from the people that knew who I was, and moreso, the ones that were trying to figure out if I'd actually dressed up at all.. The Lodge dues can hanging from the mic stand, and mid song grabbing a roll of duct tape to tape up a cord that came out of the guitarists pedal board sold it.

Here are some on the cheap:
Men In Black (black suit, white shirt, shades)
The Blues Brothers (see above)
Film Noir villains (see above again)
Or you can go in what bass players in bands from other genres normally gig in. If you play punk, show up in western garb. Soul revue? Black leather jacket torn jeans, greasy hair...

These don't make any sense to me. If you "dress like" one of these guys, but aren't one of these guys, you just wind up looking like a generic rocker of some sort. Never mind that most people on Earth wouldn't recognize the real Derrick or Sid or Lemmy.

I think you gotta go more universal appeal..... which means you may want to ask somebody other than us bass nerds. ;)

If you have a day job, ask around the office. Don't ask musicians. Other than maybe Paul McCartney and Sting, most humans couldn't name you a famous bass player. So don't dress up like one.

Paint your face with spirit gum, pour on a box of Rice Krispies and go as maggot face.

just wear a black t shirt and jeans or a black jersey and black basketball shorts, get a long black wig done into tiny pigtail braids and crab walk like Robert Trujillo. The look combined with the walk will evoke him to ANY crowd.
