Two overgeneralizations here:
1.) That anyone who has a disability or lost an arm found "joking about missing an arm" comments as funny, just because your friend did.

You know, if I lost one of my bass playing hands, I would sell everything and give up on music altogether. You sir, have much more stick-to-it-tiveness than I could ever possibly hope for.

Methinks your playing would increase tenfold if you replaced that sock with a puppet.

To be fair, I didn't lose my hand, i was simply born without it (losing it would be much worse).

I'm gonna have to agree that anyone who is offended by these comments chooses to be offended by them. I have diabetes and a speech impediment and South Park made fun of both at the same time in a recent episode and I laughed. If you can't laugh about stuff then you have problems.
