Horror movies

a couple of new ones I watched during picking exercises...

Black Sheep - The Violence of the Lambs!

Undead - ever seen a zombie fish?

of the two, I thought Undead was much better. Very surreal. Mungo McKay makes a great creepy antihero, and Felicity Mason has eyes weird enough to be one of my girlfriends...

I know I'm a bit late on this one, but my friends and I at OshkoshHorror.com did "31 Days of Horror" in October. Here's my list:

1. Frankenstein 2. Let The Right One In 3. Frozen 4. After.Life 5. Phantasm 6. 30 Days of Night: Dark Days 7. The Blob (1988) 8. The Fog 9. The Thing 10. Let Me In 11. A Nightmare on Elm St. 3: Dream Warriors 12. Hatchet 13. Friday the 13th (1980) 14. The Evil Dead 15. Visiting Hours 16. Repo! The Genetic Opera 17. A Nightmare on Elm St. (2010) 18. Audition 19. American Psycho 20. Trick ‘r Treat 21. Creepshow 22. Pet Sematary 23. Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives 24. The Exorcist 25. The Exorcist III 26. Pumpkinhead 27. Cujo 28. 28 Days Later 29. C.H.U.D. 30. Dawn of the Dead (1978) 31. Halloween (1978)

I took a little break from horror movies after October, but now I'm back in the saddle. I watched [REC]2 the other night. Good story and I like how it takes place immediately after the events of [REC]. I do have to admit that I liked [REC] a smidge better, but I think it was a solid sequel overall. Anyone else see this or anything else worth mentioning lately?

Realized I never commented on how much fun Piranha 3D was. I dig Alexandre Aja (at least, based on Piranha and High Tension).

I'm still trying to get my hands on Giallo--though that doesn't look promising--and I'm excited for the new Coppola horror flick, because he's one of my favorite directors, if past his prime.

The last real horror movie I saw...

Well, I finally got around to seeing W. Does that count? :ninja:

This is a good thread to bring back from the dead!

I finally saw the changeling and i liked it a lot. I was pleasantly surprised that george c scott didnt overact too much. :D very creepy vibe overall. Its the kind of flick that genuinely scares instead of startling you with sudden loud noise and crap jumping out at you.

Zombie apocalypse with ving rhames. I got excited about it because ving can kill the crap out of some zombies! It was low budget with tons of cgi. Overall ok at best for die hard zombie fans. Ving needed a better weapon though. Blunt melee seems like it fits him well but he didnt do enough sledging.

So whats in your queue?

That looks awesome! Being part of a film set is really interesting isnt it? Are the creators friends of yours?

If you want to take a chance on it, you can order the 2-disk dvd through the website. I was only on set for one day, well night actually. But yeah, it was definitely an experience I'll never forget. I watch movies now and think, "I know how they did that." :) The creators and some of the cast were friends of mine prior to filming, but because of the film I've met some of the most honest, hardworking people in my life. Oh, there's a FB page too if you want to see pictures of the premiere. Tons of funny stuff in there!

You have film experience too I take it?

Not really... I played a small part (in addition to kraft service :D) in a movie made by a good friend for his senior project for film school in boulder. He works with big names in LA now. There is just so much going on at a film set that i never imagined. Its an awesome experience.

Dead weight looks quality for a small indie film. It seems like a lot of great underground stuff is being made these days.

Thanks for the kind words, I'll pass them along to the filmmakers. And you're right, people are starting to take notice that quality films are being made without the "Hollywood Machine". I just watched a short film called "OTHER" that I thought was awesome. The film is only 15 minutes, but that's 15min of no-filler cinematography and storytelling. I think they have a FB page too.

Bump for a zombie thread!

Whats new on the horror landscape these days? Insidious 1 & 2 were pretty creepy. Havent seen the poltergeist remake yet though im almost afraid to. Because the original was so great - steven spielberg and tobe hooper. The evil dead remake wasnt good. I mostly just watch the classics this time of year.

Just finished watching Night of the Living Dead (1990) and the original Poltergeist. Both excellent movies.

Last weekend I watched Insidious 3 and it gave me the chills about 15 times. What are you guys watching this October?

Childs play 1 is great. the others, not so much.

Im going to try to squeeze in the exorcist, halloween 1 and 2, and the original tx chainsaw massacre in the next week. Possibly the evil dead as well if i have time.

Guys i highly recommend night of the living dead 1990. Patricia tallman from babylon 5 is the star. She does a significant amount of zombie killing unlike the blonde in the original version. Redheads. :)
