To each their own - to me, Ibanez isn't in the same league as EBMM... FWIW, I've owned at least 15 Ibanez basses, from their 505s up to their Prestige 3005, and including an SRX and a couple BTBs...

I agree. I know I sound like a religious convert, but serious practice as opposed to just jamming, has given me a sense of peace I never had before. I still love gear, but I know I am the key, not my bass.

I realize that ultimately, I'm responsible for how my basses sound. However, I do experience joy from certain tone characteristics from different basses.

There's the Precision, the Jazz, the Stingray, and the Alembic vibes. Any of those tones make me feel like I'm really playing, whatever that means.

(Gotta admit, haven't felt the Alembic tone in quite a while...)

IMHO They need to turn down the treble. There is so much treble coming from those basses that it makes it sound thin and takes away from the lows and mids.

I did that for too many years back when my funds and options were limited, and it bummed me out. I even played righty for about three years. But now I'm lefty again and I only do lefties.

Agree. These basses sound fullest with the treble a little below the middle and the bass a little above it. Rounder, warmer sound and still clear.

I would have to agree with you, but from the opposite side of how you intended it.
Never owned a EBMM or a Sterling (for more than a day), but I just don't prefer their timbre. I've tried many. Granted, those in the OP sound good, maybe it's the rigs their running through...

Funny you should bring that up. I had been watching videos on the new Soundgears only minutes prior. Fantastic sound -- Ibanez really knows how to make a bass. I owned an SR305F in pearl white, a five string fretless. That was a cool instrument!

Yeah I like the treble set flat on the standard EB Stingray and just below half on the Classic or Pre EB MM Stingray.
