They have too much of a crispy top end. They have everything set to full like they said. "That's the Stingray sound". I'm sure they had fresh rounds too. I like the Ray with the treble subdued a little. The only basses I like the treble maxed are the P bass, Thunderbird, and Ric 4001I would have to agree with you, but from the opposite side of how you intended it.
Never owned a EBMM or a Sterling (for more than a day), but I just don't prefer their timbre. I've tried many. Granted, those in the OP sound good, maybe it's the rigs their running through...
