How big a rig do I need?

I bought a used Peavey T-Max locally. 350W into 4 Ohms and 500W into 2 Ohms. Hopefully that will do the job

The biggest key, IMO, is a 4x10. The volume difference compared to a 1x15 or a 2x10 is very significant and should be just fine. So get a 4x10 and then however much wattage you need to power it.

Thanks. I'm going to go for a 4 Ohm 4x10 which should be fine, but I've still got the option of adding another 4 Ohm cab if I really need to.

i would go as big as you can, buy as much amp as you can afford. if you never have to turn it past 3, more power to you. plunk down as much as you can now and hopefully set yourself up for good.

I agree. I was never totally happy in all situations until I had 800watts into 4ohms (2 eden david 410's)

I almost never ran the amp full out - because then the pre volume was way to touchy - but it was there when I needed it.

If your going to be doing this for a while, and playing loud azs music, just set yourself up and be done with it.

Sounds like you got it covered. If, or when, you add the second 4 ohm cab, your choices are many. Another 410, a 210, a 212, even a 115. Congrats on the new rig.

That TMax with a 4 ohm 410 will be plenty MOST of the time. For really big gigs, or outdoor gigs, you can always rent either an 810 or just another 410 to add to your rig.

I'm downsizing from a 610 to a 410 and I play in a loud rock/metal band. The 410 will be 8ohms though, just in case I need to add another cab. Some 410's seem to cut really good, I just need to find the right one. It should sound better than an idle 610 that would probably be at it's best when cranked.
