How do you carry your small amp heads?

I use the bag Aguilar makes fir my tonehammer. But I also have a sturdy hard case that I can use. Most of the gigs I can just use the bag. Whenever we are all traveling together with a lot of gear I use the hard case. When I have the case I can also use it as a small amp stand.

I ran across an older cassette tape locking case with a faux metal finish that works great for holding my Augi 350, tuner, mic and cables. That was, after I removed the cassette slots.

My Mesa Boogie D800 main amp and Fender Rumble 500 backup both come with their own cloth bags. I put both in a wheeled, handled Quick Case for transportation.

For my Carvin BX500 I made a box by cutting down an unrelated box. See photo. This would go into World Tour gig bag. The box length was nearly the width of the bag, so the box top stayed nearly closed while in the bag, i.e., the amp could not slide out.

It's easy (and free!) to make custom sized cardboard boxes out of larger boxes. Measure, then score (cut half way through the cardboard thickness) where each fold is to be made, fold the box into shape, then tape each fold using packaging tape. Be sure to add a little extra to each dimension for the fold radius.

Usually have it in a backpack, but right now it is racked in my Gator case along with a power conditioner and headphone amp for wired IEM for myself, drummer and keyboardist. The main benefit of this situation is that the Gator case is much lighter than it was when I had a Hartke 3500 in there.

Back when I had a real job I was a wine salesman. I repurposed my six-bottle sample bag to hold my amp and certain necessary accessories.

It depends on the gig and circumstance.

Here my GK head is rack mounted, and is my backup amp in case one of my bigger amps go down during a gig. It's in my effects rack, just lives in there in case it's needed.

Here is a small club, practice, or acoustic gig rig, where the amp is in a small tablet padded case.

It fits nicely in the padded cabinet bag for transport.

And they don't fit in shallow racks. I also have a power conditioner in there, and if I rack my backup amp, then that takes up the majority of spaces.

I like the ability of being modular with my rigs, and finding a good, secure way of hauling everything in multiple scenarios is challenging, but there are great ideas in this thread. Thanks for the input!

And as others have said, security is always a thought. I work primarily in multi-band setups in small rock clubs. If I have my amp in a small bag, i'm carrying it with me the rest of the night. If it's in really big case, then i feel better leaving it in carefully constructed gear pile in the green room/loading area.

I got a Milwaukee tool backpack and the laptop section holds my TC RH450 perfectly and the front section holds the footswitch and cables.

The backpack is semi-rigid, so good for gigging and loading in.

For $30, it's hard to beat. Just be sure you get one with the foam (if you want). I've used these cases for merch, PA stuff, pedal boards, etc... A little more streamlined than the pelican style cases. I've been using one for about 6 years (including riding in a trailer).

I took my GK MB Fuson 500 to Best Buy, showed it to the dude at the door, and told him I wanted to find a case for it. No problemo.

I bought a neoprene laptop case—it fits perfectly—so I just throw it in my gig bag with all my other junk... well, place it... I wouldn’t actually throw it.

I have a GK MB200 and a Mesa D800. Each has its own factory little bag, which then goes in my large backpack/gig/cable bag.

One of my class d heads is in the bag made for it. The other is in a small WWII green army surplus backpack.

I have a Darkglass Microtubes 900, which has proven to be a curious item to carry to gigs. They don't offer a rackmount kit, and they have discontinued the bag for it. It's just big enough that it isn't easy to throw in most gig bags, and while it is certainly sturdy, I'm still hesitant to just toss it in a bag of cables.

I've tried a couple of different options over the two years I've had it; i've put it in a Gator mixer bag (which is almost the perfect size for it). I've also rack mounted it to a 2U clamping rack shelf, which works great, and allows me to put it in a rack with a power conditioner so that I can just plug in speakon cable and a power cable, hit a power switch, and i'm good to go.

HOWEVER, for smaller gigs, where i'm just using a 2x12, it seems kind of ridiculous to haul the 6U rack unit i'm using to house a "small amp head".

What is everyone else doing with their small amp heads?
