How do you connect with your band?

I'm in 3 bands.
1 band is n Messenger.
1 band just sends a group Text.
1 band the BL is on several different apps and he wants us to be on all of them.
1st band, over 500 messages over the weekend.... does my head in. I ignore them and turn up for rehearsal and gigs.
2nd band, gets about 6 texts a week. It's always important issues ie: what time is rehearsal, gig info, song info who can and can't make it.
3rd band with petulant BL, he calls, texts, video calls 24 hrs a day... drink texting, calling, videoing, is not on...
I've given up. He's just to arrogant and crass.. leaving this band on Sunday morning.

I use WhatsApp 99,9% of the time (the rest, the rare phone call; *everybody* in Spain uses WhatsApp). But it's an issue because some groups/members (me, sometimes) end up chatting about things not band related (or only marginally), or sending memes and just making BBQ plans, and inevitably someone (me, sometimes) protests.
On one band, we ended up creating a second WApp group exclusively for band matters, but it didn't worked well.
On other band, the leader created an online calendar with a comms app and rehearsal notifications and such, and it was a PITA far worse than the chatty WApp groups.
On bands where they are not "friends" (sub jobs, usually), I write the bare minimum, just acknowledging information os asking punctual doubts.
It's a pain in progress with no easy solution because I really hate "dry" band communication, although sometimes I resent seeing 87 text and audio messages after 3 hours without checking the phone.

Group MMS. bandleader sends regular copies of his calendar as well. I'm completely off Facebook so this is necessary.
Usually the bandleader sends a text on Wednesday or Thursday asking "meet at captain spuckys clam shack at 18:30 to set up the P.A.?"

I connect with my band using group texts (for the most part). If there's an individual issue, I phone the member separately or meet them somewhere to discuss the issue.

dep is the British term for a sub (substitute). I assume it comes from “deputy”, but I could be wrong about that.
We were using 2 group texts. One for gig and rehearsal schedule, and one for social stuff and song ideas and whatnot. That way the "business" thread stayed cleaner.
We use an app called FamilyWall. It is where we keep our calendar, with notes about equipment, arrival time, whether someone is subbing, whether we get fed, etc. Messenger is for proposing new tunes, complaining about rehearsals, making stupid jokes. Telephone is for emergencies ("I'm stuck behind an accident taking up two lanes...")

Group text and google calendars, plus a couple of shared docs for set lists and overall master song list.
The pics of a setlist via text thing kind of bugs me. Shared documents are so easily available nowadays!
My preference is the band leader/musical director only messages individual players. No group chats or any of that nonsense. Gigs are then added to the Google calendar so automatically synched to all my devices.
Emails out the gig sheet with all the required info for the gig the week before the gig.

We have a group text...just one...with a continuing thread. Individual texts or phone calls as needed. We also use an online band calendar to log individual black out days, gigs, etc.
