How do you connect with your band?

Ughh - group texts. My band seems to depend entirely on group texts. I

Same here, and as others have mentioned, there's often a lot of off-topic garbage that's better suited to Facebook or other social media. One guy is a record ('vinyl') collector/aficionado, another an amateur artist, so every time d00d gets a new 45 or other d00d completes a piece of art, they post pics of them in the band group text thread, and then that's followed by a bunch of "Wow, cool!" "That's great, Bill" and so forth. Pretty soon my phone is dinging like Mr. Rogers' trolley, and all for stuff that has NOTHING to do with the band.

The last band situation I was in was backing a female vocalist. She sent an average of 30 texts a day, some of which were very authoritarian. When I realized I was flinching every time a text came in, I quit.
Oh, yeah, and she got a booking for a major venue for us, a restaurant venue band. We’d had two rehearsals, was absolutely livid at suggestions for material.. Obergruppenfuhrer.
Oh, did I mention she had terrible timing, and wobbly pitch?
So it wasn’t just the texts. But communication should feel right, and not overwhelm.

I quit a band partly for this. It was a bunch of retired guys and I. There were endless texts all day about stupid minutia like recording a demo and making coozies with the band name on it. (Ther was no agreement on band name. We only had about 10songs down as well). I had the least enthusiasm for the project compared to them so I bailed.
