How do you feel about glitches, warbles, and artifacts?

You can either use it to your advantage, or you can complain about it and search eternally for the "perfect whatever."

I prefer to try to use things to my advantage. So many "glitches" turned out to be musical staples, or genre defining in the end... the best examples being Phasing & Gated Reverb.

I think my limit is the reverb like effect of latency before it latency gets ridiculous.

Wait, not musical, but if I found an artifact that sounded like a human breaking wind, I'd trigger that puppy anytime the singer had the mic behind his back...;)

Nice! I have the superego+ and am interested in both the Charlie Foztrot and Particle (leaning toward Particle). You have good taste!

I love effects, synths, plug-ins, you-name-it, that I can unleash and have unexpected results. I'm talking about recording though, where I can capture that cool moment. As for live bass playing...if I was in an experimental band, for sure--heck yeah, especially if I can somehow recreate it if it's really cool.

Personally I use fairly high end (at least from a non boutique perspective) effects. I consider myself a Jazz/FUnk bassist but there is still something kind of cool and unique to be about pedals glitching or adding weird noises when engaged as long as there isn't a drop in low end, volume or a level spike. There is just something kind of cool and exciting when something makes a weird unexpected noise.

If I buy "fairly high end effects" I don't want any noise out of them that's not supposed to be there.

Yep. Haven't tried to sneak that into my band, but after this post, I'm going to, doggone it. Anything to piss off our guitarist. He told me a couple weeks ago that I shouldn't use my MXR Bass Distortion because "you sound like Danny Partridge." I got his Partridge. I've now doubled my usage of the Bass D because of that. Jerk. Play guitar and shut up.

And I don't ever recall Danny using pedals at all so where the hell did that come from?

When Danny got older, he tended to push everyone's 'pedal'... ;).

I've had a lot of fun with PLL fuzzes, comparator fuzzes, etc. But i build my own effects mostly, and explore a musical space that has, ah, selective appeal.

Built a clone of a Death By Audio Robot. Fun but I am not sure what to do with it.

Built a clone of a Clari-Not, with the fuzz mod for a 6th knob. Not sure what to do with it.

Built a clone of a Deluxe Pitch Pirate which is BIG FUN but not sure exactly what to do with it - ranges from vibrato to Very Weird.

Might build a Demo Tape Fuzz. Basically I'm a fan of Mid-Fi effects, and Parasit Studio.

My favorite pedal is still my Idiotbox Blower Box clone with 6 selectable clipping stages, though.

That and my Dano Fab Echo pedals modified out to extreme glitchy delay.

Thanks, and I just got one of these! ergonomically superior! Invalid Link Removed If I had to choose I would get the Charlie Foxtrot because it's musically useful, but it the Particle is full frequency and vast. CF has a slight volume drop, but on the random down pitch setting it synthesizes Very low notes. If I can sample one with the Superego, it's like the ancient gods have awoken.
