How do you feel about Sweetwater rep calls?

I'll talk to my account rep if I have the time. Mostly, I will text and say 'any deals on XYZ.' Sometimes I save $50 here and there. I'm kind of up in the air about it. On one hand, I don't need a call every time I buy a pack of strings. But, on the other, I always liked going into music stores and just talking about gear. I'm sure he's reading my old orders off of a screen, but I can always reach someone for whatever reason. I wish I could just text someone at Fedex or Comcast when needed. It would save me a ton of time on hold.

I use Sweetwater almost exclusively and have only received calls to follow up on a question that is easier to discuss than type out in email. Of all the calls I get that aren't on my contacts lists, the ones from Indiana are the only ones I answer. I like Sweetwater and don't mind the calls - never feels like a waste of time or they are trying to up sell something.

I like my guy. He calls after I order something, asks if I have special instructions (I do), and when I reach out with a tech question, he gets back quickly and hasn’t steered me wrong.
I don’t get *any* unsolicited marketing calls, emails, or other intrusions at all.
He knows bass gear, and is really good with home studio stuff. I dunno…I actually really like doing business with SW.

DM me if you want his name.

Just a sales guy doing his job = sales and customer service.
Mine doesn't call very often and just leaves a nice message.
Always appreciate the after purchase call to make sure we are satisfied with our purchases and everything arrives in good order.

i ordered a flanger today and an hour later i got a call from sweetwater, they wanted to correct an error on my address, and while they were at it asked if i wanted to buy any patch cables or something 😭 idk it felt like they were just slipping that question under the radar, not the worst thing in the world but ostensibly i was being called for an error on my address

While I don't mind the occasional check in , the other day I ordered a set of DR Sunbeams and received a call at the house, a call to my cell, a text to my cell and an email to home address. I thought that was a bit much for a $25 set of strings? I harbor no ill will though. Just excessive.

Enjoy your day y'all. Beautiful warm fall day here in the Northeast.

I keep hearing about these calls, but after spending a ton with Seeetwater, the only time I ever got a cold call from them was when I put some items in a cart and didn’t proceed to checkout. The next day my sales minion called to see if I had anything he could help me with, specifically questions about any of the things I’d put in my cart but failed to pull the trigger on.

Gee, some touchy folks here. Phone calls raising privacy alarms are pretty funny. The genie on privacy has been out of the bottle for about 30 years now, starting with Western Union.

Oh, well, folks are free to sweat what they wish.

I actually enjoy hearing from my Sweetwater rep. Of course, he’s hunting sales and I can almost always oblige. Plus he has a minute to hear what I’m up to and I always have a question about a piece of gear that he’s very helpful on.

how do I feel?; some times I love them sometimes I hate them… by the way I’m the one making them, it’s my job and how I pay my bills. I am a sales rep!, I’ve fallen for this before and tried to explain I’ve been a TB member forever and a SW rep for 5 years, a bassist for 40, a bass builder for 20, I was lucky enough to have Steve Albini teach me how to mix, I’ve owned around 200 basses in my life and repaired too many to count. I’ve hosted a handful of Talkbass get together’s and was lucky enough to play with NCC to a few thousand (my biggest gig)
Last time I allowed myself to get pulled into this conversation I had things I said mis-represented, I was called names( corporate shill etc. , with no action token by the mods)
Everything I said has been said here; if communication is TOO much say something, don’t like your SE say something, speaking for my self, 1st I want to help and use my knowledge in the industry to HELP, 2nd, I want to make a decent living, and provide for my family.
What hasn’t been said is: Some SE’s are great and some are just acceptable, customer range is even wider. If you are constantly changing SE’s you either are not allowing them to make any money or you might have unrealistic expectations.
For me; judge me by the company I keep

You've got my vote, Dave - Sweetwater has been nothing but the best for me. I'm sure others have been disappointed somehow but that's the challenge for SW to keep to a minimum. Josh emails me after a sale to say thank you and NO ONE has ever done that before. I'm not badgered or pressed in any way to do business with SW. I'm cool with y'all!

SW is very customercentric from my wide range of online buying experiences. No complaints here - yet! LOL

nothing's changed since i posted in this thread. my rep still doesn't call me except to ask about already-placed orders (he doesn't try to upsell me) and to wish us happy holidays. SW is the place that lists bass weights for most basses, which is very useful to me. that being said, i haven't had any issues with MF, either. and i now have the direct contact email and phone number there for a rep who's very cool and helpful.

Used to hear from Nick at SW from time to time and he was always helpful. He moved on and current rep is Jake. Needed a new transmitter for my wireless because the old one refused to turn off and would bleed off its charge too soon. Bought it 3-years ago, so it was out of warranty. So I gave Jake a call. Was expecting to get 10% off because SW had sent me an e-mail with a 10% off special offer.
That would cover the sales tax in Washington state. When I asked if he had any of the Relay G10TII transmitters in stock (for the line6 Relay G10S wireless), he told me they didn't carry them. I asked, "Are you sure? You carry the complete wireless." He said no they didn't carry them.

Next day I went online to the SW website, put G10TII wireless transmitter in the search box and it came right up. I thought I had bought that from SW, but I bought it from AMS. So I went to AMS and found it was on ale for $20 off and free shipping. So instead of $119 it was $99. So I bought it from AMS and e-mailed Jake a link to where it was on SW's website and told him the price I got on it. AMS in California is much closer to me than SW, so it got here more quickly too. Tole Jake I would still check in with him next time I need something but he needs to become more familiar with what SW carries or at least put the description in the item into the search box on their website before dismissing it out of hand.

Yeah...I liked Nate much better. He was always helpful would alert me to upcoming specials either by call or e-mail and could often get me a little discount too. Hopefully Jake will develop into another Nate.
