Anyway, on my Ampeg SVT-3Pro, I set the gain to about 75%, and then set the master volume to about 40-50%, depending on the stage situation.
What I'm surprised about is guys not running their basses full open on volume. In fact, I'm gonna start a thread on that....

With this little monster instead of a sans amp on 20!:

it has 90 dB of gain and with the bass guitar on 1 I think I could probably overdrive my output stage with the master on less than 1 if I plug it in the return

This poll is baffling, IMHO...
How do I measure the setting on a scale from 1-10, when my amp has THREE gain controls? As do many other amps? In addition to the output of my bass, and its own gain control?

I guess it'd be 4 or 5? My head's pretty damn loud, and the only things that are clear are where "0" and "11" are.![]()
