How many amps do you guys own?

1. Marshall JCM800 tube amp.
Been my only for three years.

Used to have many. Favorites included a Sunn 300T and Marshall DBS 7200.

I own two bass amps. Both are solid state. One is a gig-ready GK combo, the other is a PJB Bass Cub Pro for home practice and coffee shop-sized gigs

Bass wise, I’m currently using my Ampegs: Magnavox SVT, V-4B, PF-50t, SVT 7-Pro, and Micro VR. Guitar wise, I’m using an Ampeg Rocket II, a Fender HRD 410, or an old Bassman. There are just a couple more in storage, but this is what I currently keep readily available.

I have four, and they are Vox amps I constructed myself from Vox parts. They are also very modular and I usually always run two amps at a time. He is my usual set up.

Technically four here. I use a Helix on stage with a Fly Rig for backup. Actual amps are a G/K Fusion w/ Markbass 2x10 and single 15 and a Phil Jones Double Four.

I own an Aguilar TH500 (10 years) and AG700 (8 years) both D class, and an SS Thunderfunk 750 (12 years).

Many amps have come and gone. These three are what they are judged against.

Currently 5 cabs, but I did briefly peak at 8. All Barefaced.

Can you talk a little bit about the TH vs the AG? I have and adore my TH500 and I feel that I can get most of the sounds I want out of it, but sometimes I wonder about having a more modern/shimmery/clean headroom option. I'm a big fan of the Aguilar workflow, but I often wonder if the TH and AG are "different" enough to justify having and using both.

My main amp is still an EA iAMP500C. It has been a long time since I used anything else live... over a decade anyway.

My backup is a GK 800RB. Which I almost sold, then the pandemic hit and the bottom fell out of the market

My backup backup is a Yamaha PB-1 preamp with a cheap Peavey power amp.

I really like them. Each cab is about 48 lbs. I stack the two and put my 100T on top.

I started with the TH500. I liked the sound so much I bought another TH500 as a backup. Then the AG700 came out. I tried it on the off chance and liked it enough to get one. I'm glad I own both and am happy to use either. I look at them as being the P bass and Jazz bass of the amp world. The TH500 just nails the fat P bass sound. Mid heavy with enough clarity and punch, and the AG700 is the Jazz with its wider range of sounds and tones from modern to traditional.

I take both amps to gigs and can use either, depending on the soundcheck. I use my amps with Barefaced cabs so the sound of each amp comes out exactly as it goes in. With these cabs 500 watts can go very loud, so I haven't felt the need to look at the TH700.

At 73, I’m finally lightening my load. I’m down to only three bass amps:

All 3 heads are solid state.

Whoops, I forgot that I have an all tube Ampeg V4-BH head and Avatar 500W 4-ohm 2x10 cab in the basement. That would be my "I want to have a big rock star rig", so it shows I probably lack imagination (or strength) to have a big Ampeg, Mesa, or Fender fridge/300W tube head setup.

I should have remembered this one, because the head was a major deal. Someone had stolen "all the tubes out of it". (Guitar Center realized this only after I had bought it on their used gear site.) I negotiated to buy it for a few hundred bucks as is, and then had a tech fix the tube problem. I took a chance, not knowing what was actually missing or broken. However, in the end only the four power tubes were missing, so I ended up getting a mid 80's Ampeg V4 reissue for about 500 bucks.
