How many amps???

1- small 1x8 practice amp. ( bedroom)
2- Ampeg B100R. (small gigs.)
3- Ampeg SVT head, Ampeg, classic 6x10 cab. (big gigs)

Having a custom 100 watt "tube" head, with 1x15 cab.
For recording, small, to medium, gigs.

May sell the SVT, and 6x10 cab?
Been playing less (big) gigs the last year.
Although, I love this tone.

I have two. My Peavey TNT 130 combo from my first go-round as a bass player in the '80s, and a 12" Walkabout Scout combo (with 15" extension cab) that I bought recently. I also have a Cafe Walter, which is a great practice tool.

I may sell the ol' Peavey at some point. I dream of having a '70s Ampeg SVT or V4B with a Berg NV cab once I finally get the gigging thing going again. The Mesa isn't going anywhere, though, it's superb.

I play in two bands and since I don't have a car to drive my rig back and forth, I have two bassrigs.

Ampeg SVT-3 PRO + Mesa/Boogie Roadready 1000 for the straightforward rockband and for the progressive rockband I have a Gallien Krueger 1001rb-II + Gallien Krueger NEO212.

I have 3 heads and one cabinet. My main head is an Ampeg B2RE, and I have an old GK 400RB that I also like. My old Crate head has been for sale forever and occupies space in the closet. I use my Avatar 410 for everything, but I am considering a 112 cab for easy transport when I don't need the volume.

1. Mesa Walkabout 12 with either a Scout 15 or PH 1x12 as extension options.

2. Mesa Venture 2x12 (Mpluse600 driving a PH2x12 cab) with a PH 1x15 as an extension option if needed (which hasn't really been needed yet).

Recently cleared out/sold off:
- Mesa Buster 200 head
- Aguilar GS112NT
- Trace V-type 600H
- Eden Nemesis 4x10 combo (240w older version)

I would also add that I used to use an old 80's era Fender 1x10 bass combo amp for a practice amp, but as a practical matter, I decided that It's better to use the Mesa for both because then there is no disconnect in sound/tone between practice and gigging.

1) SWR Silverado Special - 350 wt 2x12" combo. Very cool, very good amp

2) Ampeg BA115 100 wt 1x15 combo

3) Peavey Max 700 and BagEnd S15B-D (1x15)

4) Ashdown Superfly and BagEnd S15b-D (second one...two, not one)

Guitar amp
Two power amps
Powered board
Powered Peavey XR600

Yeah, I got LOTS of watts!!! :smug:

In the past I've owned many amps which are listed in my profile, it's a long list but currently I only own two and I'm only using *one of them.

Ampeg *BA-112

Ampeg V4BH with SVT-15E

I'll be shopping for a new lightweight stack this Winter.

This is once where I have the best situation. I have a GK 700rbII with an Avatar B212 Neo in LineX, which is used for gigging and also for my home practice amp. For practice (in the bandroom), I just take a bass, a small battery powered tuner, and an MXR M-80 direct box to plug into the mixer in the practice room. All around great quality w/ minimal transporting of the heavy stuff.

Two rigs see action these days. Everything else is getting ready to be sold.

Bass: 1972 Fender Bassman 100 into a pair of EV 15's.

Guitar: '51 Fender Champ clone, with upgraded iron.

Both get mic'd if more volume is needed, as at that point, it is beyond sane stage volume.

I also use a Mackie 1202 and a set of Sony 7506's as a practice rig. Practice into headphones helps me eliminate the noise in playing.

I have two currently.

Small rig: Series I Acoustic Image Contra combo that I was able to pick up used recently:

It's great for upright and electric, and will work out well for acoustic coffeehouse type gigs and practice. Plus the setup, with a long-throw woofer and dedicated midrange, really reproduces sound well.

Big rig: Carvin B1500 head and a Carvin LsX1503 cab (grill temporarily removed):

The more I play it, the more this rig is really blowing my mind. I sacrificed some stuff to be able to buy the cab, after reading the megathreads and after being exposed to what a dedicated midrange driver can do for bass sound (via the Acoustic Image gear). I'm *really* impressed with this rig. It's sort of like a budget Glockenklang / Accugroove stack. I may or may not upgrade the woofer to an Eminence Kappalite 3015lf. WinISD shows it as being better (less midrange hump, more lows), and the weight loss would be welcome, although this is already an easy cab to handle due to the dimensions (fairly narrow and shallow).

Anyway, these are my two rigs at the moment. They both sound great with both upright and electric, and cover every need I have. Some of you know I've been through a lot of gear upheaval lately due to finances. I feel very lucky to have been able to assemble this gear lineup at this point in my life, especially given current circumstances.

Cheers,
Liam
