How many basses do you have?

I came across a profile on here that said the person had 200 basses in his collection. That got me thinking, how many basses do you have? Do you use them all or did you just buy them to cure your G.A.S. Be honest.

I have six. Four of them get well used, some more than others. I don't really play my Epiphone (my first bass) or the Franken-Squier fretless too much these days though.

I use all of them at one time or another.
My main guys is usually the corvette or jag,
however, i use the thumb or corvette for solo bass.

Right now I'm down to two, an American active Jazz Deluxe and a "Duck" Dunn model Precision, both Fenders. I've had as many as 4 at one time and have had 9 or 10 over the past 30 years. At some point, I'll probably pick up a passive Jazz and maybe another P-bass.

1, a Washburn XB100. I use it for all of bass playing (obviously) outside of jazz band, where I use the horrible one that the school provides.

I've been thinking about getting rid of the last three, because they get very little use at all. Everything else has been played out regularly, in rotation.

7 was the most I've had - too many!!! I takes about a year to see if a bass is really going to work for me.

1 Frankenstein P-bass 4-string

I sold a Tobias Killer B and a SR1205 5-string fretless since I ordered the 2nd CS Jazz so I am down to 5 but will have 6 when it the new Fender arrives.

I use everyone of them on a regular basis depending on the situation. The Frankenstein was kept in the trunk of my car just in case. I would like to get a Modulus Q5 unlined fretless to match the one I have.

I plan on selling one Jazz once the new one arrives and may also sell the 6-string as I use it very little except for practice. I will probably let go of the Frankenstein P-bass as well as I raely use it but have had it since 82 so it's hard to let go. If I get the 5-string Q5 fretless and can get used to a 35" fretless I will let go of the MIJ jazz fretless. That's about it.

It takes awhile to get gear that works. It's best not to switch around too much as it takes awhile to really get to know an instrument.

I have 18. Too much GAS for sure, 100%. I always wanted to collect them. Got a decent job, no wife/kids, so it was an easy addiction for a while. I also have been in about 4 or 5 different serious bands, and I would use a different stable of basses for each. It was fun for a while, but I am at the point I would like to rid myself of many of them. I keep coming back to my main 3 or 4. My advice is only get what you play. You only need a backup or two at best. They are mainly fun to look at.
