How many basses do you have?

4-
5str Stigray- main player
Dan Armstrong Lucite
65 Mosrite Ventures Model- incredible tone
Springfield Dbl Neck 4str and 12str-electric- just had to have one!
Have had many more, but thinned out overtime...need room for all the other music cr#p!
I use all of them for different situations.

I've got two that I play regularly. A Dolan PH5 and a CIJ '51 P RI w/a J at the neck.

I have a third--a '67 Kay SG copy--that doesn't get played much.

I also have two more that I don't play with at all. Though that's wholly because of their missing parts. ;)

I think I'm getting out of control with this as well, I almost didn't want to look at my profile and count.

I'm up to 14 electric basses, two acoustic basses, one upright, and one electric upright.

I justify it in categories, I have one each of a six string/fretless/upright/elec upright if needed for a special project, one acoustic (the second has a broken truss rod, but I'd like to have it repaired and have a fretless board put on), four vintage ones that I don't really gig but won't think of selling unless I am desperate for $, and that leaves about 4 or so that I do rotate into different gig projects as I currently play 3 or 4 nights a week steady in 3 or 4 different bands at a time. After that justification I think I still have another 4 that I occasionally use but could get rid of.

Problem is I still keep wanting other basses, it never ends :help:

I still don't come close to Sobie's amount though :D

7 at the moment:

- Fender Jazz Deluxe
- Fender Precision
- Hofner Club
- Ibanez AEB
- Ibanez ATK
- Gibson Explorer
- Gibson Thunderbird

They're all loved in their own way, the Fenders get played the most by far. Except perhaps the Thunderbird, that's been a slight disappointment. I've got three lead guitars, and Fender wins there, too. Unfortunately my wife is too supportive - she's putting hooks up over our stairs so that she can use the pretty Hofner and Gretsch as ornaments. She's currently trying to get me to buy a Paul Reed Smith or another Gibson. I shouldn't complain...

I currently have 4.

1. '97 USA Fender Precision w/flats and foam at the bridge
2. '06 MIA Fender Highway One Jazz Bass w/rounds
3. Squire Vintage Mod Fretless Jazz Bass w/rounds
4. '07 Fender American Standard Jazz Bass V w/rounds

The fiver is my first call bass the others get plenty of use though. The Highway One has SD Antiquity II's in it and it sounds awesome. The P-bass really channels the Motown mojo and the fretless is just too fun to play.

Currently gassing for a cheap upright

Right now it is 6, but was up to 8 recently. Listed in order of arrival...

SX Jazz Bass (Geddy Clone)
SX P Bass
S101 5 String (currently on sale/consignment at the local shop)
Squier VM Jazz
Squier CV Jazz
SX Jazz Bass (will be a clone of another (different) Geddy bass)

As I listed the 5'er is on its way out and the P bass might be as well. Though I am not sure about that...

But for the sake of playing them 4 or 5 is plenty to have and play, especially for a guy who farts around in his office/music room. Of course that is just me....
