Nice 6, congrats!Just got bass number 9 on January 16! Warwick Corvette Basic 6. I've been wanting a Warwick for about 20 years!
My 5-string Grind has an amazingly comfortable profile. At 35", it plays faster and more comfortably than my good P-Bass.New head count today: 14 basses in the house!
5 long scale (1 fretless)
6 medium scale
3 short scale (1 lefty)
The goal for this year is to get the bass collection down to four, all medium scale. Maybe!
I'm actually having another 'bass guitar existential crisis' right now, with the recent discovery that my long-scale Lightwave bass is actually PERFECTLY COMFORTABLE TO PLAY.
This after my 'firm conviction' that MEDIUM SCALES are absolutely the best basses for me, as a Fender Urge that I picked up a while ago led to my fairly recent conversion (after having played short scales almost exclusively the previous 40 years...)
I never really liked the feel of long scales in the past, and short scales actually feel a little cramped now (even 31 inch). So medium seemed like the perfect fit. Until I acquired the long scale Lightwave (an emergency 'optical recording bass' purchase due to extreme local magnetic noise issues rendering standard magnetic pups rather useless here)... and discovered it not only sounds great, but is EFFORTLESS TO PLAY
Maybe neck profile matters more than scale length? It's something of a troubling discovery at this stage of the game...
