    1 - Shawn May Custom
2 - Geddy Lee USA Jazz
    3 - Fender Elite Jazz 4
5 - Gibson Les Paul Standard
    6 - Gibson ES-335 Dot

I want to pick up one of the new Stingray Specials, but I really don't have any business getting another bass.

  5. Updated, I still have 3 basses but due to ongoing issues and pending shoulder surgery, the Allen Woody had to go. One, it was too heavy. And 2, the way the button was on the body near the neck seems to have made it hang so that I was "pulling" it to the left to get in a comfortable zone to play.

So the Epi Allen Woody wen to GC and I now have a Gretsch G2220 instead. Much more manageable size and plays well.

    Canada, Eh!
New head count today: 14 basses in the house!

    5 long scale (1 fretless)
    6 medium scale
    3 short scale (1 lefty)

The goal for this year is to get the bass collection down to four, all medium scale. Maybe!

I'm actually having another 'bass guitar existential crisis' right now, with the recent discovery that my long-scale Lightwave bass is actually PERFECTLY COMFORTABLE TO PLAY.

This after my 'firm conviction' that MEDIUM SCALES are absolutely the best basses for me, as a Fender Urge that I picked up a while ago led to my fairly recent conversion (after having played short scales almost exclusively the previous 40 years...)

I never really liked the feel of long scales in the past, and short scales actually feel a little cramped now (even 31 inch). So medium seemed like the perfect fit. Until I acquired the long scale Lightwave (an emergency 'optical recording bass' purchase due to extreme local magnetic noise issues rendering standard magnetic pups rather useless here)... and discovered it not only sounds great, but is EFFORTLESS TO PLAY

Maybe neck profile matters more than scale length? It's something of a troubling discovery at this stage of the game...

My 5-string Grind has an amazingly comfortable profile. At 35", it plays faster and more comfortably than my good P-Bass.

I think you'll find four doable. Now the hard part.

5 currently! In the order that I acquired them from first to most recent:
    1) Peavey Millenium AC BXP (my first bass!)
    2) Fender Jazz Bass Standard (MiM, 2009 I think)
    3) 2011 Fender American Vintage ‘74 Reissue Jazz Bass
    4) Spector Legend NT (the Aguilar configuration as opposed to the EMG set up)
    5) Status Graphite S2 Classic

I just sold 2 basses and I have another one up for sale (avatar pic and sig). Once that one goes, I'll be left with one bass (a Spector NS-4). Well, I do have a POS Hondo ABG, but that doesn't really count...
