I used to have a lot more, but I had to sell a few due to medical bills. I currently have two "working" basses. Shawn May custom 4 fretted, and Shawn May custom 6 fretless (my TB avatar).

Now up to four, the most ever in 45+ years of playing. I was steady at three for the last 15 years, swapping one of my two fretless 4s for a fretted 5 a couple of years back. But working for a luthier who loves the barter system just made it too easy to go back to having two fretless 4s, so now I have a dedicated one for slide stunts again. Good times.

I really don't know anymore. They seem to be sneaking in on their own. They're everywhere.
There is one standing by the door in the bedroom. One is lounging on the couch. A couple are sleeping in cases at the foot of the bed. Two are in the music room. I won't even go in the closet anymore, it is infested with basses.
A Breedlove acoustic followed my home over the weekend and has taken up residence on the kitchen table.
This really needs to stop or I'll have to take drastic action.

How is the Bacchus Brand? I've been looking at those and they seem like a great quality reasonable cost bass.

Like most Japanese basses, great! Bacchus has four level of basses. The Universe Series is made in China. My Bacchus '51 P-Bass is a Universe series. I would say it is compatible to Squier basses from Fender. Then there are the Global Series which are made in the Philippians. Never played one, but heard they make well made instruments from that factory. Then there is the Craft Series which are made in Japan. They are higher production, but handmade instruments. There are some beautiful basses in the Craft Series and very reasonably priced. Then there is the Handmade Series. These are high end instruments made by very skilled luthiers, comparable to the Japanese Sadowsky basses.

I guess I should still lay claim to a Brice octave 8-string that my buddy currently has possession of. A long while back, the bridge pulled and lifted right out of the body, bending the bridge and screws and what not. It's been a long time it seems so I can't remember details but my buddy (who lives 3 hours away) is gonna eventually get around to fixing her up for me. Other than that, the bass actually played pretty sweet. I miss the unique feel and sound of an octave eight.
