My USA Dean Prototype Hillsboro J bass arrived... in two parts on two different days. The body arrived Saturday and the neck arrived today. Made by luthier Jonathan Hill for the 2009 NAMM show when Jon was still at Dean.

Two Bartolini J pups, flats, one volume and 3 way pup switch. Maple FB and Birdseye Maple Neck and Ash Body.
Oil open rubbed wax pore finish.

Very deep dark tone with the flats on it. Playing closer to bridge brings some highs. Thin fast neck.

This is my second USA Dean and I am very impressed. Gentleman from Canada is selling his collection due to health issues.

I want to buy another bass, I really really do. But I haven’t found any that sound better than my US-made Precision. Not even close. So I’m overbuying amps instead and having a ball.

Currently building myself another thunderbird with p/j pickups, & will be building a gibson ripper 'replica' & a short scale bass i've had for the last 7 years.

Aside from these above, I did manage to complete the P/J Thunderbird build. But have gotten a few others over the last year or so.

I now own 16 basses & am currently clearing up my guitars as well (owning 14 of those, in which i'm definitely keeping 7 for sure that cover my needs). Basses is going to be a much difficult process.
