Thank guys! Those two bass guitar cost me (both!) a little over $100! I also own a small Ampeg (BA -108) practice amp, and four pedals (a Digitech SDRUM; a Digitech Bass Synth Wah; a Boss RC-1 looper, and a Joyo Dyna Compressor), and these make up my entire line-up. Although, for years now, I do not preform/record locally, I just love the bass guitar and play for myself - for the thrill of playing! Once upon a time I played it in local bands, live/studio, etc.; now it's just because I love the instrument! I will die a bassist! It's in my freaking DNA!!

PS: I miss, terribly, playing live. I remember the rush of watching the crowd jam to my groove. I miss that part of things. Oh well.

For about a year I've held steady at four, which is down from my high of seven in 2008. The herd might creep up to five or six this year, but I'd like a regularly-gigging band first! The current bass residents of casa Nedmundo are:

1. Fender MIA Jazz, 2003, Chrome Red/maple/black sparkle guard, with Lindy Fralin Split-Jazz pickups.
2. G&L USA SB-2, 2007, Vintage White/rosewood/tort, tone control added.
3. G&L USA JB, 2010, Midnight Blue/rosewood/white pearl guard/painted headstock, Lace Sensor Man O' War pickups.
4. G&L USA M-2500, 2014, Ruby Red Metallic/rosewood, quartersawn neck.

I couldn't resist a lightweight, empress-bodied G&L JB-5 for sale locally, so it's back up to five! I played the JB-5 at a party/jam session on Saturday night, and it was great. I loved the tone, and the neck has excellent playability. I'd prefer a flatter 12" radius fretboard, but the standard 9.5" works extremely well with this neck. I greatly prefer it to the Fender Jazz V I owned previously.

Two...

A 5 string J and a 4 string P with flats and a mute in the bridge cover.

I noticed earlier this year that those are the only two I *really* play and I play the J much more than the P but I can't bring myself to get rid of it because:

1. I like the way it sounds and that sound does fit some of the music I do. I could probably get away with using the Jazz, but I don't have to
2. I likely wouldn't get much money for it, or even what I put into it because it's an Affinity Series P bass with an MIM Jazz neck and an Original 62 pup (a mutt).
3. Sometimes if I don't need the fifth string and I'm gonna jam with someone I leave the J at home to avoid hearing people's lip about how many strings their favorite player "needs".

I'm up to 5 now. Certainly don't need 5. My two Spectors are mostly stock, but the other 3 are modded fairly extensively. They have more value to me than I could get from selling them.

1. '03 Spector rebop 5 - added hipshot LIC ultralights

2. Spector legend classic 5 - added gotoh gb707s

3. Warwick Rockbass double buck 5 - fretboard replane to fix a hump, and refret with Evo gold fretwire, pickups hardwired in series, 500k cts volume pots, Seymour Duncan preamp, hipshot LIC ultralights, custom Ipe truss rod cover.

4. Warwick Rockbass streamer standard 5 - body refinished, bartolini pickups, Seymour Duncan preamp, hipshot LIC ultralights, and a custom claro Walnut truss rod cover.

5. Yamaha bbg5 - defretted and filled slots with maple. This is my newest bass and probably has some more customization coming. Maybe coating the fingerboard for a brighter sound. I may sand and paint over the finish, because the it's an ugly chipped up poly. I stripped a poly finish once, and I'll never do it again!

I like 5 strings, if you can't tell.

You guys are gonna scoff, but my main bass is a Yamaha RBX170. Found it at a Goodwill store. I use Rotosound Swing Bass 35.55.70.90 and it growls like a mother. I have a Lakland Skyline for a backup... same set up, same strings.
