Funny. Recently sold my Lakland hollowbody. Still have my Warwick Starbass (white, 32"). Only because it was a Christmas gift from my GF, 4 years ago while I was missing the black one that I sold. Because of this, I can never let it go. Otherwise... it would also be gone. Not that I don't love it, but...

- Cream/rosewood Parts Pbass. Basswood body, named Sheena
- Home built White/maple 70's tribute pbass copy. Heavy Ash body, named The Brat
- Epiphone Goth Series Thunderbird. Repainted in red w/black tree, extensively modified.
- Home Built Ripper tribute bass, named The Bull.
- Home built Short scale bass named SuperNova.
- Home Built Bass VI named So Be It.
- Home built Eb-2D 32" scale semi hollow bass, named Goldie
- Squier Precision bass special, repainted orange, named Pumpkin King
- Home built BB300 style bass, nordstrand 2b-3a preamp, single reverse split p pickup.
- Maya Grabber bass copy
- Dan Armstrong plexi bass copy (china), new short scale neck built, extensive modified
- Logical 4001/03 copy bass.
- 1975 Gibson Grabber bass wine red (need to fix the broken rod & replace the very worn frets)
- Ibanez GaxB 32" scale bass
- Home Built Green grabber bass w/eb-0 pickup
16 total to end the year. The 75 Grabber was a new acquisition i got for 200$ (due to the broken truss rod & worn frets). The owner just wanted to sell it, & i had given him my info years ago, if ever he wanted to sell it off - i'd buy it. & i have.
The home built p/j thunderbird with the active 80's era EMG pickups i've given to a friend of mine. Swapped the chrome hardware for black, upgraded the bridge to a hipshot kicka$$ & after a few tweaks to the neck itself, writing the logo & serial number (unique to my friend), it now resides with him & i couldn't be happier.
I've got a few other basses to build for myself in the future; Stingray 4 band EQ bass, Short scale violin skull bass, Fretless pbass, Paul Simonon pbass tribute, & at some point way down a Les paul triumph bass once i figure out the pickups themselves.
& then there's my guitar collection, which i'm going through here & there. couple more to build for myself, some to build for sale (as my former shop closed down & the employer, my coworker & myself parted out with tools, storage, & projects that we could build, finish up & make a few bucks from). All this in the future. Some basses i'm sure i'll get around to playing & selling off or something - TBD.
And that makes seven!
Squier Mustang. Going to replace the pu for a Nordstrand, get the pots and wiring replaced and I'll put some LaBella flats on it. Other than that it's a very nice bass

I played another of the exact same model and color in a different store. I liked it just as much. So they're batting one thousand so far.

In my experience the fit and finish of MIJ/CIJ is very very high. I haven't had any with rough frets etc. I think the quality of build is at least on par with MIA if not better.
That said, I typically buy the MIJ stuff knowing I will require and install new pots and pickups. This has always been the tradeoff. The stock stuff is fine but not quite up to snuff with MIA Fender internals.
This is not a deterrence to me however, as I pick up MIJ basses for far less than US ones and can then install whatever pickups I wish.
