I have been on an acquisition spree. Bought a Squier Affinity Jaguar bass H to modify. Added a Wilkinson bridge, a MM-style pickup. and a ,05 mf tone cap and a treble bleed circuit. That's all it really needed, although I might add another pickup eventually. I had been craving a basss with a 32 inch scale for a while (small hands). I put on some Fender flatwounds and it sounds and feels pretty good, for a $300 bass. Kind of has that James Jamerson vibe. Came across a Deluxe MIJ precision bass Lyte and grabbed it. Oil finished mahogany body-looks great. Still tinkering with the action. Nice-sounding active electronics and the pickups are humbuckers. Missing my 5-string Ibanez (in storage) I bought a 5-string Rogue from Musician's Friend for $99 plus s&h. Great deal except that the pickups are not humbuckers. Plays good, sounds good, what more could one ask for the price. Lastly, I bought the Hofner Club Bass I've been wanting for years, in candy apple red (like the Rogue). $400 on Amazon. 30" scale, a dream to play with minor setup work, and half the weight of my other basses. It may end up being my main axe, at least for blues and Hawaiian music. Playing my fretless Jazz Bass a lot (at home). getting my chops back. Then there's the Mustang that someone converted to a 5-string. a pawn shop find. How many is that, so far? Half a dozen more in storage but no more room in my apartment. I suppose I'll have to sell at least a few but they're like my children!

Wow, i like them all, but i'm especially digging that Maccaferri-looking one on the bottom left. Is that one of your customs?

Yes, my design of a gypsy/jazz D sound hole, built by Bruce Wei Arts in Vietnam, made of all solid curly walnut for $870 including express shipping (it's gone up now to over $1000). He's made me a half dozen ukes and bass ukes over the last 9 years.

My luthier here in the Los Angeles area, Eric's Guitar, installed the preamp and pickup and said "This guy is a keeper, he does really good work." I was very glad to hear that.

I've just decided to put the grey and green ones on hold for now, so the working group is this, with the Jaguar Olympic white/tortoise and teal Hofner style in progress:

Ibanez 1990 MIJ SR800 and a Donner Jazz bass and 2 basses are enough for me. Because I also play guitar and I have 4 of them American Fender Telecaster, Frankenstein Stratocaster, Epiphone 1990 Masterbilt acoustic and a ES345. And at 71 years old all I need I want to play them now not buy more.

I got to 8 and then sold my Steinberger Spirit, so down to 7.
Got to the point now where it's one in one out.

Currently (in order of acquisition):
- 1980 Fender P Special (1981)
- 2011 Lakland 55-94 HS (2019)
- 2019 Fender American Ultra Jazz V (2020)
- 2010 EB MM StingRay Classic V H (2021)
- ~2009 Bolin NS5 PH (2021)
- 2013 Fender Aerodyne PJ (2022)
- 2021 Sire P7 fretless 5-string PJ (2022)

I think the StingRay's about to be traded for a Mike Lull M5 or an EB MM Sterling V.
