I added this short scale StingRay about 2 weeks ago. That makes a grand total of 5 for me. I think I’m at my limit. No more room for cases. I can add some holders to my bass rack. It came with 2 extra . It can hold 7 total.

5 seems just right. I’m holding steady here .

when I first started playing I wanted something other then a fender so I was really into Washburns but then I bought a Squier when I started playing again and it’s been down hill since

Interesting numbers in the poll as of now...I myself went from three to four last week

About as many people who:
: own one bass, own ten to twenty of them
: own two, own three
: own four basses, own ten, 21+ or too many to count
: own two or four or three or four basses, own five to nine.

Also:
: just over half of all respondents own four or less
: the distinct majority own five to nine.
: less than four players in one hundred own 21+ or too many to count


Fascinating.

I'm in the 21+ group, and including guitars, it's over 30. My Pastor and I had a long discussion this week, and temperance came up, so that number is likely to reduce a lot and consolidate to what to really want and need, plus a couple I'll never sell anyway even if they aren't played much.

After a 15 year hiatus from a life-time of bass, and having no bass at all, I recently got back into it because my son started playing woodwinds in the school jazz ensemble. It's fun cycling through some basses over the past 2 years as an adult with some spare cash. Short scales are surprisingly wonderful, though I do sometimes miss my trusty old MIA J bass.

Currently at two distinctly amazing basses:
Serek Midwestern 2 with a B90 30"
Ernie Ball Stingray (passive short scale)

I briefly had (and sold) a Grez Mendocino and a MIA Mustang. The Grez was super unique but not my thing, and the Serek cast a shadow over the otherwise terrific Mustang. That new Sandberg Florence looks pretty stellar...it's a good thing they are completely unavailable!
