How many Basses Does Everbody bring to a gig?

I bring my Roscoe. All I need.

On rock gig I only bring a back up BG if it's a real important gig, more than 1/2 hr from home and there's not another bassist in the house.

I'd gladly lend my bass to another player if his broke on a gig, and mine was available. (I'm not anal about my instruments, and they're all high enders).

I'm 52, and tired of carrying stuff, and I'm fortunate to have some very nice basses.
So: I mostly just take one anymore.

I play one (Line 6 Variax 5 string) but use at least 6 of the models. I bring a second bass as a spare if the Variax goes down.

But I've already freaked out ones, bridge pickup dying on me in the middle of the set when I did bring only one bass, hopefully the neck pickup continued working permitting me to continue to the end!

For being someone that brings 3 to a gig. I agree. I could get by with 1. Or 1 and a backup. I do it as much because I enjoy playing them. If it gets to be too much work I'll pare down.

Most of the time one. But I've done 4 or 5 gigs where I break out the fretless for a couple of tracks.

Depends on the gig of course 90% of the time, 1. I've brought 2 a couple times but only because I was trying something new like the first time I played a fiver in my tuned down 1/2 step soul band (for reasons that make zero sense) and I wanted a 4 tuned down back up. Other time was first gig with new Berg NV610 and I wanted to hear how it sounded with P and J Basses. TBH, I usually think a lot ahead of time about which bass to bring and then once I'm committed focus only on that bass. I don't like to think about gear on the gig, just on playing once I get my sound dialed in. Never felt the need for a spare.

One if I'm playing a local gig and if I'm on tour,I take a few for backup...I usually change my bass with my hands and EQ...cuts back on hauling unnecessary gear when you figure that part out.

Just one. Sometimes I'll bring 2. I don't slap anything out, so I don't break strings. My buddy always breaks strings slapping so he brings 3.
