Origami, how have I not met you man? Do you play around town or work in a music shop in town? Denton ain't all that big!!

I moved to Dallas (@6 years ago). I play in an indie rock band called the FARSTAR for about 4 years. in farstar i just play bass live, but play all kinds of stuff in the studio for them (drums, keys, guitar, bass) Link Removed i only moved to @denton about 1 1/2 years ago. i live out on 380.
i also do some church gigs, and help friends with their demos or shows.
I've gone to UNT, for about the last 2+ years. my band plays denton sometimes (rubber gloves, etc.), but usually deep ellum, greenville. my rock band is almost too 'normal' for some denton people, but yet not cheesy (nu-metalish) enough for a lot of dallas.
i played guitar and drums and sometimes bass or keys when i used to live in oklahoma and played with both original, cover, blues bands and church gigs, so i still keep up with my other instruments which gets expensive and brings the wrath of the boss (the mrs.).

So far I've just hit some blues jams around Dallas and once at Texas Jive. In fact, I played at Texas jive on the last jam before they closed for the big Fry street renovation. I'm in a decent band, we've been practicing in Grand Prairie and it looks like we'll finally have things together enough to start getting gigs in another month or so. Nothing to set the world on fire, just a bunch of us older guys having a good time knocking out some pretty decent classic rock type stuff. All covers.

wow, that one guy has 4 sterlings.. sweet! after seeing some of the collections other guys have, i don't feel as guilty.
we played rubber gloves a few months ago, and we played denton last weekend at UR Moms for a battle of the bands (we never ever do battle of the bands, but the winner got GC gift certificates, sadly we lost to a band with a girl death metal singer). it was fun, but that bar is way not our crowd. we will play denton again once UNT is back in session.

my UNT class window overlooks it, and within three days it went from standing to burned down to leveled.
shows, we play all ages on thursday in plano (kiddie show), and dada next sat. dada may be a trainwreck, our guitarist is out of town, so we are having our old guitarist from 3 years ago play with us that night. he hasn't played the songs in that long. ouch! fingers crossed.
