Well, we did this a year ago - How many gigs did you play this year?

Let's do it again! How many gigs did each of you play? Let's assume we're talking paid gigs here, but we can be flexible if you really want.

I got to 48, if I'm counting right. Not counting about half a dozen times playing for free (charity events and such) and a few dozen church services, not all on bass. I was hoping to crack 50, but got let go of my main gigging band at the end of October, and the new one looks to be up and running in February or so.

I only did 3 right before school started, some people I know that do acoustics wanted to do full some full band shows before classes started so I did it. Now I'm trying to find a new band......but everyone where I'm at is either one of the "yeah dude I can play" can't even play the main riff of iron man or any other easy songs, or they play deathcore which I'm not a big fan of.

I had 23 this year. Would’ve been closer to 30 if our singer didn’t decide to move 4 hours away for the summer, which meant we had to turn down a few gigs in the peak party season.

First order of business next year will be finding a back-up/replacement singer.

i turned down more than i played these past few years. i actually lost money on the last set of shows i played, but they were some of the most fun i've experienced, lol.

EDIT: i just opened an email with a setlist to learn. looks like i'm back on the "pole" in 2016.

Was not a good year for me. Been bandless the last few years. Played about 8 sub gigs overall with the last 4 this month alone.

87 + a fulltime engineering career.
Our house gig happens on Tuesdays so that leaves other days open. There were some months of pulling 7 days per week of having to not be home since some of the weekday/week night gigs involve trading part of a workday and making up the time on a weekend.

You learn to appreciate the song lyric:

I like to be here when I can"

PS: Bandmates are 57, 60, 60, 61 with me at 60. Keeps us in shape and happy.

I think we did about 10 or so. Being originals, and starting out in our home city, we tried to space it to every 6 weeks minimum as to not saturate ourselves.
This year we're hoping to spread out a bit and play at places within an hour or two away.

Looks like it's going to be 264 this year. Got rehired for a church gig in January after losing mine in 2013, so the gig count is back to economically sustainable levels. I don't teach, just freelance, so I have to take pretty much everything that comes along.

The touring musicals are my bread and butter. When they're in town, it's 8 shows a week plus rehearsals...and whatever else I can cram in during the days we're not doing matinees.

My standing record is still 2007, when I did a total of 396 gigs, shows, paid rehearsals, and sessions.

I paid for it though. That brought on a pretty painful and sustained bout of tendonitis.

Somewhere around 60 or 70. But I was in 2 bands and subbing. I dropped one band and cut back on the sub work. I only want to play 2 or 3 times per month now, tops.

46 paid gigs (not counting session work)
which is pretty cool considering it comes from 2 primarily (90% of the material) original bands, and the very occasional sub gig.
It's about the number I want to do too. Not sure I'd want a whole lot more.
I'd like to focus on bigger/better gigs over just raw number of gigs. Bigger, more visible venue's and festivals, and better pay or additional opportunity.

43 paying gigs this year for the band I'm in...over half were bar gigs (usual 3 set routine), remainder were several corporate gigs (great pay, lousy audiences), few festivals, and a few shows we put together ourselves at un-traditional venues (1 very successful -thoughts of quitting work...1 not so successful - back to reality)
One highlight was opening for a band we've followed and admired for 10+ years (who are huge regionally and a known commodity across our nation), at a national sporting event with all the stage and sound trimmings...that was a blast
Shared stages with many different bands...learned from all of them...from some what to do..others what not to do...
It was a good year...

On NYE, it'll be 82 paid gigs. Exactly one more than I did last year. This year's average went up $16 per gig compared to last year!

1-12 but the best thing is because of the number of small gigs we have this year and getting to know the people around the scene, our next year calendar is damn packed, we are already booked until March, and i have 3 gigs coming on January with my main band and other side project i have.
