How Many Gigs Did You Play In 2018?

About half a dozen. They werw all special in their own way.

I did manage to score an awesome job, get a couple promotions, and persuade my wife to have our first child.


Baby girl is due in two weeks.

I'll be lucky if I play 6 gigs in 2019 and I've never felt better about life/music.

18. I went back and checked my calendar. I would have thought more, but we had a little personnel issue and didn't do much from Jan to April 2018.

About 35 for me; 30 with my Springsteen tribute band (which I have since left because I can only take so much Springsteen music) and 5 with my country band. And here's a video from 2018 with the latter.

17. Not bad for a band in which 4/5 have day jobs Of these, one is in nursing school, one is working on a Master's, and another works shifts and side gigs guiding hunts and doing fishing tournaments.

Seven, which is a pretty typical year for us. We usually go between 6 and 8. This year was a little unusual in that we did two private parties and two music festivals. The latter were really fun because we just needed one set and the PA and backline were all taken care of. Just showing up with one's guitar is really great. One of the festivals was an acoustic set, so it was just me and my two guitar players and that was a fun change two. We've got two gigs already lined up for 2019, with two more in the offing and I'm sure we'll fill in a couple of bar gigs along the way.

About 52 in 2018 and we have 50 booked for 2019 with a few more probably going to come in. Its been growing steadily for the last couple of years and we're now at the point where every single one in the book is a decent payer at a venue we all enjoy playing at. Up until now there have been some compromises but this year is looking solid. We cant really do too many more and keep family life intact.....

Without going back and looking at the calendar, I'm going to guess we did about 70 gigs in 2018. Our favorite, of course, was the trip out to Colorado.

30 or so...not too different from the last several years. i originally viewed retirement as a time when i'd do more 'fun stuff', but i'm finding out that i'd rather play more gigs. i could gig several times a week, i think, and be happier about my circumstances. i thought i'd be doing more FOH gigs in my old age, but: they are more taxing and less fun than playing --- at least they were in 2018.

you can't always get what you want!

I'm sitting here in the same boat, kept pretty busy this year, December started out slow but ended up being one of the best months, and last night ws one of the best NYE gigs in years. Three set, dinner, champagne and $200- not a bad way to end the year I guess.

Not a one. But, I did move back to the city after a near decade-long sojourn in the boonies... and now I’m in three bands. 2019 will hopefully put me in the 30+ category!!!

After playing over 95 plus gigs a year for the past 8 plus years I played ZERO last year and I LOVED IT !!
Retired and what a great decision it was ... I do miss playing but never having a weekend to myself or signifigant other for over 8 plus years feels fantastic !

15. I would like to play a bit more, but unlike myself, the rest of my band have actual lives. Thinking about a second project, but I don’t think I can deal with all the crap that comes with forming a band. Did have a nice chat with a drummer that played with a Weezer side gig, but he’s tough to read. Looking forward to reading everyones annual gig totals!
