how many jazz basses

I have 6, all "different" - various pickups, materials and string types. They all have a unique character.

I have two

I am thinking of getting two more.

one with tapes
one with roto 66 rounds ( i have this one, rush bass)
one with roto flat monels (I have this one, play a lot of zeppelin type stuff with it)
one with ghs precision flatwounds

that should just about cover the tones

thoughts?

I'd keep the ones you have try the different strings out on both. Pick your favorite and if you're going to buy more get a fretless or you could build an 8 string like these with the Warmoth neck

One Jazz with a good preamp. Who needs any more?

If you want flats on a bass get a good Precision.

I had 4 but 2 were stolen...both of them were my gigging basses too

Replaced one of the stolen basses w/ Jazz w/stock pickups and Rounds - Pau Ferro neck. Not sure if I will add Seymour Duncan's to this one or not.

So long story short, I'm currently at 3 but Gassing for an FSR Ash model.... damn you GAS, damn you!!

I've been using the ETB92 Nylons on everything, without having to do any re-setups. (.50, .65, .85, .105) I like the Flat string sounds they put out. These can give a stand up bass tone as well, when setting the amp for it. The Nylons are easy on the fretboard, and last a long time. I like the playability, and the sounds. Some of the basses that I strung with the ETB92 Nylons, 4003 Rics, Fender Precisions, Jazzes, Fretless Jazzes, Gibson SG Std., Music Mann.

I have many basses using the same strings.. ETB92 Nylons are a great find in my books..

and I use a pick for my geddy sound on my rush bass

what is your point?

I doubt jpj didn't use flats on some of it, and I have googled the mess out of it.
