How many push-ups can you do?

I've also started the military style (apparently, don't quote me), elbows in. That took some getting used to.

The close-grip engages the triceps more, I always got **** in the military for testing that way but it works, especially if you have more strength/endurance in your triceps.

66 in a minute is the most I've done non-stop. I try to do various styles to have well-rounded and capable muscles but I almost always test close-grip. It's just what's naturally easier for me.

By no means was I suggesting pushups as the only means to fitness, just one measure. I just ran a half marathon (not quickly, but we did run!) and I work out a few times a week.

The pushup thing is just fun. Today was 37 or 38, couldn't remember so I did 38. People that can do over 60 must not be 6'5 with long arms like me or maybe I'm going to full range all the way chest touch to near lock out. I can't imagine going any faster. I'm going to tap out before the minute mark anyway!

Apparently when doing the 1 minute test you should not go fully down, you should go until your triceps are parallel to the ground, as if someone had a fist on the floor in between your chest and the ground!

This is the standard for testing purposes for the Army, in which I did my 66 in a minute which helps when you're tall with long arms. I've done a minute of full range and it's between 45-50(full-range is how you should practice, even if the test is different).

some of the guys i drink with from the rubgy team can do them one-handed, no fooling.

usually only when there are girls around, for some reason...

I used to do them pretty regularly, up to 17 on my right arm, 15 on my left. One guy in basic training broke his wrist falling out of a bunk the second night or so and did one-handed pushups everytime we had to do pushups(which is a lot) by the end of it he could do 35 consecutive one-handed pushups with his good arm.

phew! well done. i don't think i can even do a single one-handed pushup...

hang on, i'm going to try.

...

no, that didn't go well.
