which is awesome, i think the company (risa) is defunct but they are still around to buy. of course, not a substitute for a nice acoustic, i may buy one eventually if i want to get more into it

I own around 10 ukuleles, a couple in each size, have been playing seriously for many years, perform at weddings, and I have three uke students. It's undergoing another resurgence in interest and novelty.

After reading about guys like George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, and Brian May spending some quality time with ukuleles, I got really curious. Of course, if you're familiar with Brian May's work with ukes on Queen albums, there's a guy who evidently never put it down even after success as a guitarist. First thing I did was learn all the Queen uke tunes, then started buying method and song books, it just progressed from there.

A fascinating instrument, especially when you can get the whole room doing a sing-along with it.

I got a cheap soprano Uke last summer, best 50 bucks I ever spent...Got one for the kids at the same time.
Love the Uke!
Just fool around with it and all kinds of chords and tunes start popping out of it.
Be careful, it can be addictive.
Also sometimes do an occasional mandolin track...

I have an old Recco soprano uke that was my dad's that I learned to play as a kid. I still have it, and the frets are terrible on it, but I still play it now and then. I'd really like to see how a nice uke sounds.

there are some nice looking ones on youtube when you do a search for ukulele.
i paid $60 for a soprano uke and a gig bag, although i may upgrade to a case.
its relatively inexpensive enough to pick up a decent one. i like the way mine sounds,
and i cant beat what i paid for it. my .02

I got a nice little ukelele in Hawaii a few years back, very fun. If you wanna play along with a guitar songbook, it can sound a bit goofy with the chord voicings; transpose everything up a fourth and the voicings become more "guitar-like."

ironically im planning a cruise with my gf to alaska. i want to take it with me to play on the deck.
