How much do your basses weigh?

Ibanez GSRM20 - 6.2 lbs
Ibanez GSR200 - 7.4 lbs.
Ibanez SR400 ('94) - 8 lbs
Fender MIM P ('94) - 9 lbs

All weights approximate - measured by weighing myself holding and not holding the bass and subtracting. Should be way more accurate than just setting the bass on the scale though!

I really have no clue how much my basses weigh? I have never weighed them before. I have 2 Ibanez SR 500 Soundgear basses from 1994 and 1995. Those basses are very light. I am guessing they weigh between 7 and 8 lbs.

My next one is a 2007 Ibanez 20th Anniversary 5 string Prestige Soundgear bass. My guess is it weighs around 8lbs. It too is very light. Especially for a 5 string.

Next is a 2005 Music Man Sterling 4H. It is my heaviest bass but not by much. My guess is it weighs between 8 and 9 lbs.

I have 3 basses on the way.

2010 Ibanez SR 500 limited edition that is only being sold to Guitar Center. I put it on layaway a few weeks back and am picking it up this week. It's weight is around 7 - 8 lbs.

2009 or 2010 Music Man Bongo 4 HH Dargie Delight II. It too is on layaway but will be paid for soon as soon as my 2 guitars sell on ebay. I have no idea what it weighs but my guess is around 9 lbs. or maybe even a little less due to the type of wood it is made from.

My final one is actually being built right now. It is a 2010 Music Man Stingray Classic that is being custom built with a Breast Cancer Awareness theme in honor of my wife who was diagnosed with breast cancer last month. I played a Stingray Classic a few weeks back at Guitar Center and it weighed probably somewhere between 9 to 9 1/2 lbs. My guess is that my bass will probably weigh around the same.

Jay: I'm sorry to hear about your wife's cancer and hope she recovers soon and completely.

As for you incoming Stingray Classic (Shell Pink, I expect), you're going to love it. My Trans White Classic, which weighs 9 lbs even, is the best sounding/playing/looking Stingray I've tried. And, I'm sure yours will be no different for you.

Thank you Greg! The Stingray Classic that I played at Guitar Center was white in white and I was really liking it. If I had the money, I would have bought it to compliment the one being built.

Hey Greg. Would you mind posting a pic or two of your white Classic? I've been jonesin' for a Classic (or at least some other 2-band 'Ray), and I think the white ones are my favorite. Thanks!

Actually, my Classic (pictures and link below) is trans white/Mary Kaye/blonde, depending on who you talk to, and the only one EBMM made in this (my all-time favorite) color. if you want to hear it, click the link to see a video of Sterling Ball playing my bass at the Bass Player Live LA launch of the Classic line--just 2 days before they shipped it to me.:D
